8,200 acres, 18 hunters, $1,250 per person. Has water and electric. Good camp with lighted/covered skinning area. Lots of deer, hogs, turkey, dove, quail, varmints, and did I mention rattle snakes. Also has covered eating and cooking area with big screen and satellite for the football games. We suffer in comfort.

Anyone that can still hunt whether is free or they are able to pay several thousand are the blessed one's.
I feel for the guys who can no longer afford it, and there are a lot of us that are right on the edge!
$750 a year and it's not a big place but it is close to home and has plenty of game!

Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I hunt on a few small places for free. Even though they're small, they're great spots. I also get invited to hunt a few big places in various places throughout the state in exchange for an awesome varmint when I come back after deer season. Pretty much a double win for me that way. Get to go deer hunt, then come back later and do more of what I love.

Mason county, 6 guns, 640 acres, $1k/gun year round access.
My neighbor's great grandfather negotiated the lease back in the late 50s. We'll keep it as long as we are able to! I don't know if your owner is German but they have a system to keep land forever in the family and enjoy it and not have to charge out the wazoo for hunting. You go to college, work for the state for 25 years to get retirement and then move back and run the ranch which is in a trust. My buddy pays $700 down there and been doing it for 60 years from the same family his grandparents leased from. I pay about $1,600 for 1,000 acres less than 2 hours from the door. But I also mooch too and they are allowed to hunt with me anytime they want though as long as they follow rules.

We are probably going to lose it in the next year or two when our current landowner retires. The land will go back to his deceased wife's family and they've already told us that they are either going to split it up among nieces and nephews or will charge market value for it and that'll price us out more than likely.

I have always paid 1-2% of my gross income for hunting leases; good rule of thumb for me, always seems to come out about right

600 acres Haskell County 2 guns at $600 per person.
1500 acres Coke county 7 hunters $2250 per gun which includes them filling feeders and the corn. We feed about 20 tons a corn a year.

640 acres in Motley Co. Water & Electric hookups. 2 guns @ $2500/gun for year round hunting and the wives can hunt with us. First year on the place but the doves are ridiculous, seems to be plenty of turkey, lots of hogs and a few decent whitetail pics so far. We've also seen some mulie does on the place and a few bucks within a mile. About 100 acres of wheat got planted last week so we'll see how that works.
