full greenhead limits are hard to come by, but when it happens it is something special, I don't know why, but it is.
I usually try to shoot every drake I can until I limit or it gets late though.
Where I hunt I usually have a mix of wood duck, mallard, and green wing teal, with an occasional gadwall, and very rarely a wigeon or pintail.
I would like to go somewhere and shoot a limit of wigeon, I've never done that before. You forgot redheads bro. Kelly

You can keep telling yourself you'd rather shoot a mixed bag, but mallets and a kicker are what real duck hunters go after.

I try to get all drakes, but sometimes a hen or two has to die as well...that's just the price of doing business hens have bands too

3 woodie drakes and 3 mallard drakes would be my dream limit. I will take that 3 woodie drakes, 3 mallard drakes and a Canada to boot! (opening day of last year) J.J.

The only problem is if I got that limit I would be DANG tempted to mount the whole string. That would be an awesome string mount.

I personally enjoy hunting mallards more than anything else. I am not gonna claim that they are the smartest most wary duck out there. The reason I like to hunt them is because of the sights and sounds that you experience when you are hunting large concentrations of mallards. More than anything I get enjoyment out of the overcoming the challenge of finding them in large concentrations on public land. And there is no doubt to kill mallards in north texas day in and day out you have to be an above average duck hunter. Anybody can happen into them once in a while but to stay on them all season takes a lot of work and know how.
