i have a nova pump... been using it for dove and buckshot deer hunting on public land for 4 years. never had a problem with it at all. i would say that i think you can find it cheaper. i bought mine slightly used (looked brand new) for 250$ at a gun store here in san angelo.

I had the Nova in 20 gauge and shot over 500 rounds with it without a single ftf. It is a well put together gun for that kind of money, but hunter is right that you can probably find it cheaper if you want to take the time.

It's an ugly, rattle trap, throw it the bottom of the boat after you used it as a paddle kind of shotgun. I have put many thousands of rounds through my 12 gauge Nova and have grown to love it. I hate to admit it, but I shoot better with this shotgun than any other I've ever tried (I've got much nicer guns) - my only perfect rounds of skeet were shot w/ this shotgun.
The factory butt pad is hard as a rock and only slightly more comfortable. Get the limbsaver pad if you plan on putting a bunch of rounds through it.

I've shot Novas several times and found them to be solid performers. Everyone I know who has one loves it. The only thing that annoys me about them is that weird rattle in the forearm.

Another vote for the Nova from a person who owns, and unintentionally abuses, one.
Everything everyone says is true.

I bought one when they first came out, I sold it two months later. It was too loose, rattled too much, just not a solid feeling shotgun compared to what I was used too. Went back to my 870, learned a lesson about jumping on the Hype bandwagon. If you have something that works, then why change. Still love my old 870 Express.

Those novas are tough and make for a good field gun. I still prefer my Beretta Urika but that is only going to the range.

The nova is a good shotgun. But to truly appreciate a benelli, you have to get an auto

Have had 2 870s, a 500 and a Nova SP.
All of them work well. I love the 870 feel, but for a field gun if the stock fits you (older Novas not having interchangeable stocks)......good solid piece. I had the combat model not the sport gun, different purposes, same basic gun. Tough, reliable, ran probably 400-700 rounds through mine over a couple years. The ghost rings on my particular gun loved Remington RR slugs, I would routinely head-shot a DPS silhouette at 100 yards from the prone with it.

Still love my old 870 Express. x10 Benelli is hype, 870 is better built pump & beretta's are better built auto loaders. Take it from someone that runs 10- 20K rounds through shotguns per year.

I bought one @ Cabelas a few yrs back...forearm rattle was annoying...and somewhat bulky (my biggest dislike) in comparison to my 870 and 500...just didnt fit me well enough to keep around...but then again im 5'9. i tend to favor the lighter weight shotguns...i now own a Benelli M2, Yildiz O/U, and a Browning Silver.
"CAMO" is my favorite color!

As you can see from my username, I am an 870Fan, but I have to admit, it bothered me to take my 70's Wingmaster into the salt marsh, so I bought a Nova, and I have been real happy with it. It may not be quite as pretty as the Wingmaster, but I shoot it well, don't worry about scratching the stock or forend, and it handles the big boy shells when I feel the urge. With this gun I don't have to worry about my buddy's shells being too long, and I love to shoot my friend's shells.
Beat it up, clean it up, and hang it up for the next hunt. Look for a good used deal.
