If it is like the one on my Winchester SX3 (also made by FN now) - it is a bead that sits on a small 'post' that is actually the top of a small (fragile) screw. The bead comes straight up and off - however, the little screw is so small and fragile, could be the posts that the bead sits on have already broke off and there is nothing left to grab onto. I had to have mine drilled and torked out (by a gunsmith) after I broke the bead off. Did it putting the gun in a case fer crying out loud. Worked out well though - I didn't like the bead and was just going to put a fiber optic sight on it anyway. I put on one of these HiViz MagnaComp - mine was way cheaper at Cabelas, Midway sells em cheaper too.
