I got into a discussion the other day if it is worth camoing feeders or not with an old timer on our lease. We have one that is a plum crazy purple that I never really worried about painting it as I figured the deer didn't care that the they could see what it was that was dropping corn. Anyone heard a good reason that you should paint them camo?

I only paint them so they are not so obvious to other humans. In the area I hunt you can see for miles. I would rather my feeder not be so obvious to anyone thats up to no good.

I agree, we have a purple one also, deer stand right under it. But it is in the interior of the place, ones that might have eyes on them are camo'd sorta or black.

Only keep them painted to better take the weather and reduce rust. Might as well make them camo....

You don't have to have camo feeders:

If your near a fence. The last thing you want to see on opening morning is a deer blind. And camo is cool.

It sure makes me just feel better having everything camo. Its always more for me and the asthetics than anything else.

I don't paint them for the deer. Matter of fact I guess none of my feeders are even camo. Just earth tone colors.
