any property you can hunt for free I would say go for it, coat do have some issues. but put up a feeder with panels around it like you would to keep hogs out and see what happens.

For me, it would depend on the number of goats. Looked at a lease several years back that was way overstocked with goats and every bit of forage they could get to was gone. You could see right through all the cover up to about eye level. Ground was picked clean too, and was eroding away to rock. A deer would have no natural reason to come there and stay. Little cover, almost no natural food, and they would have to compete for time at the water trough. Depressing place. Goats were pretty hard on it. If it is lightly stocked and you can keep them off your feeders and troughs I'd give it a go.

I use to hunt a place near Mason that had goats on it and you had to watch close sometimes they would be in the same area. From two to three hundred yards some goats look a lot a doe.

when goats are present usually ranchers have either a dog, donkey or lama to protect them.. we had dogs one time and deer will not even get close if there is a dog in the area.

50 goats on that kind of acreage would probably be a PITA to deal with.

I run about 300 to 400 Corsican sheep year round. I can only comment on what I have seen. The two species compete for the same forage in just about every way. I have many lease places that I use to see deer on, an know I do not. I do rotational grazing, generally moving them from one place to another. I honestly think you would be better off looking for another place to invest time in. You might be inviting a headache you do not want. Good luck to you.
