Howdy, I am newer to the North Texas area (Wichita Falls) and was wondering if anybody knew of any good ranges to shoot 50 BMG at? I'd like to find a 600 to 1000 yard range within about an hour or so of here if one exists. OR, if someone has alot of land close by and would like to shoot a 50, let me know! The folks around here have been nice enough to let me use their 100 yard ranges to keep sane, but I know there has to be some big ranges with all this open land around here. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Tacpro (Stephenville, TX) and Tiger Valley (Watt, TX) are the only one's I know which will allow .50bmg in North Texas.
Google should take you right to them.

I thought Tacpro is in Mingus.

Thanks for the tips thus far, especially for this lead; his setup sounds to be about what I'm looking for and within less than an hour too! Tacpro and Tiger Valley look like nice operations but are 2.5 & 3.5 hours away...

AFPilot-Dee, looks like the North Texas Field and Stream needs to add some distance. Maybe we can get a petition up to get a longer range out there?

Ther is a little shooting club outside of Graham that has backstops out to 500 yards. Not sure if they would let you shoot a 50 BMG out there or not though.

I actually talked to Jeff out at the club about it. He said they could easily push the range out to 150-200 yds but I guess there is some fence back there that is a limiting factor past that. He said to make that happen we need to get the rifle shooters together and make a push for it. He did mention the club has talked about purchasing the piece of property across the street and putting in a longer range there, but that is obviously some time out as the piece isn't even for sale YET! I have no complaints with them though; they let me shoot the 50s out there for $40 a year and don't say boo about it. 100 yards just isn't much...
