Lead em, and swing through x2 don't aim, leave both eyes open!!

You need a 10 gauge with a full choke.

Use bug spray on your boots and pants legs. Take plenty of shells. Pick up all of your empties plus any extras you come across that aren't yours. Don't shoot over your limit. Make sure if you're shooting a pump or auto that the magazine will only hold 2 shells. When a dove is heading your way, freeze and don't move until it is well within range and you're ready to fire, then raise your shotgun. If you're new to dove hunting and using a Full choke, you probably won't kill very many. Try a Mod or I/C instead. Unless it's very open terrain or you have a dog, shoot one dove at a time and go find it before you shoot at any others.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

what about a blind of some sort? or will just staying still on the bucket seat, moving slowly, work just as well?

bucket will work just fine as long as you have some sort of camo on. Bring lots of water!

Purchased some %100 dete this year.

x2 on find your bird before shooting another one. Once you shoot a bird watch where it falls and mark that spot then walk directly to it. You will be surprised at how easy it is to lose a bird even in fairly open terrain. Take; License, shotgun, shells, game bag, stool or bucket, and some water.

Be real careful where you step and when you reach down to pick up a bird. I have already killed one rattlesnake at our camp this summer.

Where can you pick up game bags? get a gallon ziploc bag and write your name, hunting license number, and the date.

Well I am planning on going Dove hunting for the first time. I talked with a guy out in the Katy area that does day hunts about getting set up to go. But I was wondering if anyone had any tips for a first timer.....
Take a shooting lesson from a pro, and hit as much clay as you can before you go. If you have never had a lesson before, that would be the best money you ever spent. Amazing how many beginner wing shooters spend a ton of money on license, gun, shells, outfit, lease, gas, lodging, whisky etc..for a dove hunt, but will not drop $100/$200 for a few lessons. Seen a guy shoot all morning once and not hit a dang thing. And you will save bunch in shells.
