I just purchased a 700 adl 243 synthetic I am now in pursuit of a scope. Wanting to spend 250 or less any opions?
I like the Leupold brand simply because I have used it several times. What is the opinion of the group on the Nikon BCD models.
Thank you in advance.

I'm also looking at new scopes for a custom rifle that I currently am having built. It's my first and maybe last custom so I want to set it up right. I'm not a rich man but I've put in a lot of extra hours in order to afford this rig.
I've read everything I can find about various scopes and what I've figured out is that it comes down to personal preferance. Some folks love one brand and some love others based on what they have had and how the performed.
In my 35 years of using scoped rifles I've used a lot of different scopes on a lot of different rifles.
I've only had two scopes fail on me in all of those years. Both were from different manufactures and I'll not buy another of either one even though one of them was from one well respected brands.
I've never used one of the BDC scopes but I have had a couple of Nikons over the years and they were OK. The only problem I had with them was that eye relief seemed too critical for me.
Good luck with your search.

Kapn,

Here is the scope I put on my Rem 788. It is more clear than my Nikon that cost a lot more. I am looking at buying another of their scopes for my 7 mag for out west. Don't be fooled by the low price, they do not advertise and put all their money into their company so that is how they keep their prices lower. If you are close to Wichita Falls, I could let you look at mine.

If you want a Nikon don't miss out on SWFA's sale on last years model going on right now.www.riflescopes.com
I purchased a Sightron SII 3X12X42 on e-bay recently new in box, last years discontinued model for about half price. The optics are great on this scope.
Good luck either way.

It took 6 weeks but my Nikon Monarch 3x9x40 finally came in last week from SWFA. $250 shipped. I think they still have a BDC model for the same price. Their shop is in Red Oak, so if you wanted, you could probably drive down and save the $12.

The scope looks great during the day and night, but I haven't had a chance to really look through it during dawn and dusk. Maybe this weekend I'll do a side by side comparison with my Leupold 3.5x10x40.

It's definately better than the $100 Bushnell's. I also looked at a Burris 3x9 last week at Academy. Looked fairly decent, but that was just looking around in the store.

My dad got a Sightron last year, and the SII is pretty good. He said he was watching deer out in a coastal patch after dark with it.

Shoot straight and always carry a 7mm Remington Magnum.
