Has anyone here ever hunted the White Oak WMA in North East Texas? I am looking for info, I am thinking about hunting public land this year during Bow Season. Any info or advice is much appreciated.

I hunted there several years back. Huge area. Thick, swampy, and so many hogs you literally had to step over them. There's some nice deer there, but you'll have to work for them. I hunted the West end, near white lake.

Also, if you camp at the area headquarters, watch your gear and lock it down tight. Some of the locals have sticky fingers.

Tons of hogs and some good deer, but you gotta get in the thick stuff to find them. Don't expect to walk 50 yards off the road and see deer. Warning!!! Do not attempt to get out of your truck without a Thermacell. The mosquitos are the size of humminbirds.

Good deer and hogs. Have to agree with the comment on needing the thermacell. Huge deer though, and area looks good for this year. I was scouting there last week, and saw several near the hunters camp. Last year was tough due to flooding.
