Ok, so Off now has a mosquito repellent device that is battery operated and relatively small that can clip on to your belt or whatever you want. I know that lots of folks use the Thermacell with good results. The question is, has anyone used the Clip On out in the woods around game? Something that might be sensitive to smell? If so, what were the results and how well does it work out in the wild?

Hmmm. I was looking forward to some replies. 45 minutes and nuthin'. I haven't tried anything else since I got my Thermocell either.

My concern with the Off device is that there is a small fan inside that I think a deer might be able to hear...don't know; I've only seen the TV commercial.

The Thermacell has NO fan. It is strictly a chemical patch being heated by a small infrared like burner element.

i used the off last weekend. it works for bugs... but for some reason i think they smelled it or heard it, the red deer were real skittish and normally they are the first to hit that protein feeder.
the fan is a bit noisy, but i think it is mostly when you turn it on. once it is on, they did not seem to notice

I used one last year at the shooting range before I bought my Thermacell. It worked fine, but not sure about it while hunting. Maybe hunt someone else's stand and try it out?

Thermocell all the way. It can also double as a hand warmer if need be.

Thermacell all the way. If it works well, why go with anything else?

Do earth cented wafers smell like dirt? And if so, what kind of dirt, red clay, black gumbo, sand?

The Off thingy works OK. We use one around the house to keep the skeeters off the kiddo. But I will still be using my Thermocell this fall for hunting.
