1st from Lowes Home Improvement they sell a task force c4 LED that runs on 2 C batteries. All metal housing and runs 140 lumens. Nothing too fancy but the $27.99 price tag. You cannot find a cheaper light with this sort of beam.

2nd from Academy. Knockoff Surefire G2. Made by Brinkman. Runs on 1 A batter not the $300 C123A batteries the surefires do. 60 lumen same as the G2. Very light due to a plastic housing but once again great thing about it is $14.99.

Both of these are very much instock and everyday low prices. I'd highly recommend either and have had them for quite a while.

How far out can you see with one of these light? Would they work for hogs at night or mainly home protection?

the 60lumen I had attached to my bow but that was only good for about 30 or so yards away.

Based on the first post above, I bought a small Brinkmann at Academy. I've had one of the Brinkmann "G2 knockoffs" for a couple of years and really like it, except for the expensive 123 batteries it takes. I compared the two at night, close-up and at distance. The new little one (LED bulb) is every bit as bright as the older one (xenon bulb) The color of the light is a bit different. The xenon bulb has a slight rose color and the color definition of objects seems a little better to me. I've been told it can be used for blood tracking, but I don't know if that's true. The newer LED bulb has a slight blue-green color and the color of objects seems a bit washed-out. The beam is more irritating to the eyes and therefore might be better for self-defense. The new one is smaller than the G2-sized one and will easily fit into a pocket or a purse. I think it's a great deal.

Glad you're happy with it papa. Can't beat the price and power on one A battery.

I have both the Brinkman and the Surefire g2. I can honestly say the Brinkman is brighter! Brinkman has a larger version as well. Very good deal for a bright light, can't say anything about the durability because I have only had it for about 4 months. Bought a smaller Pelican light at Sports Authority the other day for 19.99 on clearance, 80 lumens I think but brighter than both the Brinkman and Surefire. Surefire makes great stuff but I'm still on the fence about the cr123 batteries. Left my Surefire in the truck one night, temps dipped to around freezing and the next morning would not turn on.

If your looking for a smaller gun mounted light check out Tiablo, specifically the ACE-G. 700 lumens and it uses a one inch tube so it can be mounted on a rail. Yeah its over $100 and it uses cr123's but it will fit any one inch weapons light mount, maybe on the rail of a AR15 or on top of a scope instead of a big ole' spotlight.
