Guys we picked up about a 2,000 acre lease last year. Had 9 guys from work put up and the boss helped out with the other half. 5 of the guys didn't make a single hunt and 2 others decided they didn't have the money for this year.

So that leaves us with 3 guys from work and a neighbor of one of our co-workers. We're still coming up $1,000 short and are looking for 2 hunters to put up. I have gotten the landowner to nearly drop the price in half. We paid $6400 last year and he's willing to take $3500 this year. I will be putting up $1,000 because I feel its worth more to me than the other hunters and the other guys are putting up $500. I will hunt dove, quail, deer and turkey. They will probably just go sit in a deer stand on the weekends.

Looking to find 2 guys that are willing to put up $500 each as well. The lease is not phenomenal with respect to any 1 particular animal. I saw decent numbers of deer last year and could have easily filled my tags, but didn't have a freezer at the time so held off for a wall-hanger. Saw a wall-hanger the first morning but didn't want to end my season 10 minutes into the season in a 1-buck county. I probably killed 70-80 doves and about a dozen quail in 4 different hunts. I killed one turkey opening morning and saw a few more birds the following weekends but could never get set up on them.

Like I said its not a great lease but its somewhere close to home and offers good enough hunting for me. Could pay more for a better lease and travel further and hunt with more guys, but like the smaller numbers of hunters and the closer proximity. Just curious if there's anyone else out there that feels the same as me.

The property is spread out a good bit. We have ~1000 acres (section and a half) that is together, a 640 acre section, and a 320 acre section. There are also 5 other 160 acre sections that we have permission to hunt. We have seen deer on two of the 160 acre sections and all 3 of the larger sections. One guy hunted one of the 160 acre sections this year and had the entire section to himself and won't be hunting again this year. Think he only went once or twice.

We already have a couple of feeders that are available for someone to use.

Our management rules are pretty simple. You get 1 buck tag. If you want to use that buck tag on a 6-pointer and not be able to shoot the larger 8-pointer the following weekend, thats your perogative.

We're just a few guys that enjoy going out there and making a few hunts. I'm just trying to make sure I have a place to go. The sections are sort of scattered between Roby and Rotan. If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask.

I personally believe the $3500 he is asking is fair, but the $6400 we paid last year was a bit high. The property has a good bit of cotton on it as well as CRP. There are small isolated patches of thickets and he does plant about 100 or so acres of wheat on the 320 acre section.

All I have are pictures while hunting, no game pics, and no electricity for a camper.

This land was farmed for years and the guys dad didn't allow hunting. I guess he passed away last year or the year before and the son decided he'd try to make a buck or two.

It is a year round lease. In fact a couple of the guys killed a ton of coyotes out there during the spring/summer.

I'll try to email you some aerial photographs later on so you can get a better idea of what we are looking at.

We have 1 section just east of 70 that we only hunted once, everything else is west of 70.

We have two 160 acre sections west of 70 and south of 180.

The rest is pretty much between hwys 611, 180, and 70.

Properties are a few miles west of Roby and Rotan.

Thanks to all of those that responded. Openings have been filled. Didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
