I find I must apologize to all you Mossberg owners. I just received a custom rifle built on a pre 64W action with all the latest bell and whistles that would have my wife killing me if she knew the price I paid for it. I went to the ranch of a friend to shoot 500yd plates with him and dam if his Mossberg didn't out shoot my custom. I have knocked Mossberg all my life as cheap garbage. They may not look real purty but they shoot.Bye the way he warned me what was going to happen but I didn't believe him.

I like the pump shotguns. Did you switch rifles with him as it may have been the indian and not the arrow...

I'm a better shot than him.

That's crazy. I would be pizzed if I had a custom built rifle that would not outshoot a Mossberg.

Don't throw your gun under the bus just yet, a brand new gun sometimes won't shoot to its potential until a box or two of ammo is run through it. Give it a few rounds and if it is still not up to par, try to develope a hand load. If all that fails go back to the builder with it.

I enjoy stories like this when they don't happen to me. David, Goliath, yada, yada.

That new rifle does need some ammo down the tube though before you suffer buyers remorse.

The wife needn't know how much you paid.

I have to agree that there is no way a Mossberg is going to out shoot a custom rifle.

If you don't reload and work up a load specifically for that rifle to get every bit of accuracy out of it, and find out what combination it likes best, then you just wasted your money on a custom job.

Don't mean to sound that harsh but don't know how else to say it, and it's not all on the rifle. You may need to shoot several brands and bullet weights if you don't reload, but a custom rifle should with ease, out shoot any production rifle with the right ammo combination.

His rifle is shooting what it likes best and he knows it!

Kind of like putting cheap gas in a custom built race car engine!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
