I just bought eveything I need to load. I built some loads out of the Nosler book but I would like some tried and true recipes to try! Let me know what you got.

I prefer 130 gr Nosler Ballistic or Accubonds.

What powder and how much?
Primer?

Everything will be loaded in Nosler brass!!

Help a rookie out!

IMR4350 and H4831 have long been the classic powders for 130gr bullets in the 270. Usually something around 55gr of IMR4350 and/or 59-60 gr of H4831 turn out to be a sweet spot, but start lower and work up in your rifle.

With 130gr bullets start at 57gr of H4831 and work up till you find a sweet spot for you rifle. H4831 is as good as it gets for a 270 Winny. Seat your bullets as long as magazine capacity and funtion will allow.

+1, H4831 is about the perfect powder for .270 Win.

I'll vote for IMR 4831 as well. It's the first powder I try in any case base on the '06. Have always had satisfactory results from it, if not outstanding results.

10 of each? During load development? You're gonna need a bullet puller. I usually load 3-5 of each round while in rough load development. As I start refining a certain load I might load more. But that's me. No real wrong way to do it.

I planned on doing 5 shot groups twice to make sure I didn't mess up shooting them.

Let me ask you guys this. What will be the differnce between the IMR 4350 and IMR 4320? Slower burning? Will I get inconsistent groups with the 4320? The rifle and I arew both capable of submoa!

4350 is a slower burning powder than 4320. And it (4350) is a better fit for the 270, But you never know, 4320 could work in your rifle. If you already have it loaded, no reason not to give it a try.

Also depends on the grain weight bullet you are loading for. I've always used IMR 4350 in my '06's and I used to use it in my .270 when I had one. Switched over to H4831 for the .270 and never looked back. Your results may vary though, every rifle is different. I normally only load 5 of each charge weight in a test box of ammo. If you use a rifle stand (like a Lead Sled or something similar) things go much smoother and you'll get more reliable results as this kind of evens out the test conditions.

Using 140 gr Accubonds, I am loading 57 grs RL-22, CCI 250 primer, in either Winchester or Remington brass, and in my son's Encore, it shoots well under an inch and pretty much into one hole at 100 yards. His gun shoots Winchester Supreme factory ammo with the same bullets just as well but a slightly lower POI.

New Jeep, may I share my experience with you in reloading the 270. An advantage in reloading you can choose the velocity and thereby control the recoil.
I load the 270 with 130 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips for my son. He was adult age when he got the 270. I found a article in Handling Digest on "Light Loads". Using that info and a Sierra reloading manual, I developed a load using 43.1 gr of IMR4064 powder which, according to the manual, generates 2,700 FPS. He used that load very sucessfully for 10 years or more and shot several deer. That load was very accurate, and would exit a deer. For an Oklahoma hunt for bigger deer, I increased the load to 45 gr of IMR4064. These fellows who have resorted to using a lead sled are getting the snot kicked out of them. You can't have a lead sled with you in the field. You can more comfortably shoot a lighter than factory load. I was given a lead sled as a gift, and used it one time. Didn't like it. It is collecting dust. Just some grandfather advice.

I do not mind a good thump from a rifle I just would use it to take away any human error during load testing! I am a great shot but I will admit I do pull one on occasions. It happens as humans we are not pefrect

Never tried a lead sled. Probably works fine. But a good set of sandbags will work well, too.

I like reloader 22 for my .270, I use 140gr Nosler balistic tips/accubonds and get clover leafs for groups.

I have also had good luck with 140gr hornady spire points and reloader 7828.

Win. LRP and 58 gr. RL-22 in a Rem. case 130 gr Ballistic tip. The friends that use it always want me to load more for them. but IMHO you have to find a load your rifle likes.

as hot as it is, be sure to remember to let the barrel cool.

I use Reloader22 as well in my 270, 59 grains gets me 3060fps from a 22 inch barrel and accuracy is outstanding with Nosler Bt bullets and CCI LR match primers. I get excellent life on the cases with no pressure signs in my rifle but you will need to back off the charge and work up for your gun.

RL22 will get you more velocity over the standard 4350's and 4831's

If you put a 140 grain Accubond in a Winchester case with a CCI 250 over 58.4 grains of RL22 and load it to a COL of 3.361 you will have a great shooter.

I'm using 59.0 gr. of IMR 7828 behind 130 gr. CoreLokt's or Nosler Ballistic Tips.

I don`t have a 270 rifle to load for but all I use are Reloder powders for my 22-250, 280, and 300 WSM handloads. They are really excellent powders and REALLY accurate. I have not been able to match the velocities with those loads with any other powder brand either (I Chrony all my ammo - either factory or handloads). They work extremely well with my firearms.

Seems like Reloder 22 or 19 would be an option for that 270 tho.
