At our place we all get together in the morning or evening and everybody figures out where they want to go. I guess with us its a little easier cause we are all family. I have never been on a lease with just a bunch of random people. I guess I have been pretty lucky.

every lease we had, we had a "personal blind" for each person....personal meaning that if the said person was there, they got first dibs on that blind. If they wern't there, a person could hunt whereever they wanted to.
never been a fan on the "my blind only i hunt it and vice versa" type scenario
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Everyone on our lease has 4 personal spots except for the guy who has run the lease for 27 years. He has 11 spots. You only hunt your spot unless you have permission from the other lease member to hunt their spot. You maintain your own feeders, blinds and cameras. I wouldn't want it any other way. We are bow only. Personal "ownership" of a spot keeps people from forcing a sit if the wind isn't right. You can't get screwed by someone else's incompetence. If you screw up your spot.......it's all on you.
I also have the opportunity to hunt family land. I don't do it much. Too many folks in my family couldn't care less if they screw up a spot. They will just go to a different spot.
I prefer to work hard and reap my own rewards.

I prefer having one designated blind and feeder. That way you know everything is going to be there when you want to hunt and that the feeder is full and working.
When you are not there it's open to anyone that wants to use it and vise versa, so you aren't locked in to just one spot, but you are only responsible for your own.
I'll sometimes put feed in others feeders if I'm going to hunt them, as well as spread corn in the senderos.

We have an assigned area and place our own blinds and feeders. Screw all that "community" mess. Having your own area is like owning your home vs. renting: since you have a personal stake in it you tend to do more and work harder (you get out of it what you put in). Some guys don't do much and it shows in their success rate. If I had to sit their blind because they were hunting an area I had worked so hard to make better I would be miffed.

It always makes it better when everyone just does what they are supposed to do and then there are never any problems. It's when you get one guy or so that just want to show up on opening day and not lift a finger to do anything or buy any corn.
Those types are easily dealt with in that they don't get invited back on the lease, but when it's family then you end up having to just deal with it.
After all hunting is supposed to be fun, and having rules takes away from it, but it's even worse when you have folks that just make the deer lease experience dreadful.

WE HAVE OUR OWN AREA, BLINDS AND FEEDERS ARE OURS, NEVER HAVE TO WORRY BOUT CORN IN A FEEDER OR NOT. HUNT YOUR SPOT UNLESS YOU HAVE PERMISSION. WE ARE ALL REALLY GOOD FRIENDS, BUT I DON'T WANT TO WORRY BOUT HOW SOMEONE IS USING MY BLIND.

I am not a "community" guy . I buy and maintain my equipment and I will be the guy that hunts out of it . But i am also all for helping and doing what is needed to build and maintain a lease and to help anyone else with what ever they need .

I'll sometimes put feed in others feeders if I'm going to hunt them, as well as spread corn in the senderos. This is the way we operate on our new lease except with the introduction of game cameras our stands are open for anyone after December 1st. This gives an individual plenty of time to hunt his own stand and harvest a specific deer if it is frequenting that area. Also about half of the guys bow hunt but the other half doesn't and this eliminates a bow hunter from hunting a persons blind before the individual gets the opportunity to sit at his stand.

I am the only one on the lease that is not a family member. If we arent there, and someone wants to hunt my area, then I'm fine with that since all are very responsible hunters.

never been a fan on the "my blind only i hunt it and vice versa" type scenario This is what we do. The only exception being if a person is hunting a particular deer we will give him room. We have plenty of spots so it is usually not an issue. That being said go shoot a really big deer out of another persons primary spot and it can get pretty colorful. I have first hand experience in that. Also, you don't fill your feeder, maintain it etc. Your not hunting anywhere else.

We have community blinds since most blinds/feeders were there before 5 out of 6 started hunting there 2 years ago. I suppose if each person replaces a blind and/or feeder they can call dibs if we are all there at the same time. I personally don't care. I just like to hunt.
I can see if you are hunting east Texas then you would have your own area since you probably have more shrubbage to combat each year and maintenance. Out west we just got to cut a few mesquite limbs and mow.

family owns all or part of the 2 places I hunt now and all blinds are community. I had a lease one time with private blinds. Both are fine, but with the private blinds, all of the other guys hunted your blind when you weren't there and had their blinds padlocked when you tried to return the favor. It ended up that every blind there had a padlock on it. We all got along fine, but it was really a crappy way to hunt.
With the deals I have now, everyone chooses the blinds if there are just a couple of guys hunting. If multiple people, we draw cards from a deck for picking order.

We have way more stands (most have feeders but not all) than we have hunters, and several of our hunters prefer to spot and stalk, so crowding is never an issue. In general, whoever picked out the spot originally for the stand and did most of the work getting it set up, has first dibs on hunting there. We also respect each others areas if someone starts hunting a specific buck. But there's never any hard feelings if someone hunts a different stand. And we always let each other know if we're going to be in someone else's stand.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

last lease I was on was set up like so..... triangles are member areas....circles are guest/community areas. Probably the best organized place I've hunted on. Guest/community areas were kept up by contributions from all members and could be signed out on a first come first serve basis after 5am.

We have 7 to 8 numbered blinds for family hunting. No camping in pasture we hunt. At the gate entering the pasture we have a numbered board with long screws below each number. On top we have the same number of washers. We hunt first come first serve with an understanding if you come late or leave early do not pick a blind that interferes with other hunters and you must remove your washer when you leave. That way most times we wait until everyone has come out for safety reasons or to help out with locating wounded deer. It's worked well for us over the years.

10 person lease
We all have our own blinds and most of us have 2. Most of us feed year round. Most of our blinds are heated and dry.
The first week and 2 weekends you hunt your own blind after that you start asking if it's ok to hunt someone elses blind (and the answer is always "sure go ahead".
The exceptions are:
If YOU haven't been feeding year round or at least the last couple of months, no one really wants you hunting their blind that has been fed all year.
If your blind is not heated and dry no one really wants to hunt it... in turn they don't want you hunting their blind just because the weather turned off wet and cold.
The only thing I would change is, if you have two blinds you MUST let a new person hunt one of your blinds their first year on the lease.
Basically we never have a problem AT ALL with things the way they are.
DISCLAIMER ATTENTION: Your decision should NEVER be based SOLELY upon my advice, recomendation, or opinion.

I couldnt imagine paying 1K and up for a lease and be limited to the one stand I brought and the one feeder I put up in maintain. Hell, I'd be better off hunting the 64 acre of family land. We all split corn, we split maintence and we all work together, it isnt that tough, if you get one of those guys on the lease who doesnt do anything, he hunts one year and is gone, however we never have had that problem. We draw opening morning, and opening evening, and then just work it out the rest of the time.....

11 hunters on 2400 acres. Everyone has 2 spots and they are all personal. My brother, father and a good friend of mine are on the lease an we hunt each other's blinds after the first two weeks of the season. Its a no no with the other members though. They dont let us hunt thiers and they dont hunt ours. I let one of their teenage sons hunts hunt in a prime bow spot i had set up and his father wanted to make sure i understood i still wasnt allowed to hunt his stands. I thought it was a little rude and i didnt give two $hits about hunting his stand anyway. In my opinion i have the best spot on the lease. I pretty much just stick to my two stands but every now and then a change of scenery is nice too.

On our place you can't hunt anyone else's stand without permission. I like it that way, because I put more effort into mine than some of the other guys.
