We recently purchased some land in Victoria County, TX. The previous owner said that she usually mows the "sena" beans in the cattle pasture each year. I was there about one month ago, and didn't see any bean looking plants, just normal cattle pasture looking grass. My dad was out there this weekend, and said it is now chest high. I can't find any information on the internet about sena beans, or any other spelling of it. Cena, Siena, Sena, Cina??? Anybody know what she is talking about, or know the correct name I should be checking. They have gotten a lot of rain there this summer, so I guess that is what has them growing so fast.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cant help you with the spelling. The plant looks more like a small tree (4 to 6ft tall) with the beans hanging from the branches. They grow in shallow water or around the edge of standing water. Being in Victoria county I am sure you probably have areas like this on your place. In dry times you wont see them but once you start get places with standing water they will spring up. They are easy to mow not much to worry about.
Let'em grow old

ok, thanks guys. That's good to know that they are not too bad for you. I also noticed some tallow trees along the fence line. Definitely going to get those things out before they choke out everything else. Being from the Houston area, I've seen those things swallow up and choke out everything in short order.
I wonder who will win the battle when the tallows meet up with the cedars.
