Haven't seen any predictions, but yes, I hear they're going to have them... They should be pretty good with all the moisture this summer.

I have always noticed in wet years the deer dont grow as well, because they eat the things that arent as high in protein, as for a dry year they cant be so selective on what they eat. Just my opinion

Just my opinion I THINK THAT'S A LOT TRUER IN S. TX WHERE IN DRY YEARS THEY EAT MORE OF THE HIGH PROTEIN BRUSH, IN THE HILL COUNTRY A WET YEAR DOES SEEM TO HELP, SO FAR I AM SEE BETTER THAN AVERAGE ANTLER GROWTH.

Last year in my area we were in a pretty severe drought during the time when they were growing their antlers, and only later in the year did it finally start to rain and bring back the grasses and forbs. It helped in their body weight, but the antlers weren't very good.
This year we had the rains during before they started growing and during the growth period so I'm hoping for some marked improvement over last year.
I saw a lot of deer last year because they had to forage for food, but this year may be different in that they don't have to go far to find food, so they may have big horns but may not be moving around much until the rut.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

antlers should be good, as there is lots of food around. acorn crop should be substantial. from what i've seen though hunting the hill country is that the wet years make the deer harder to hunt. they've got so much other stuff to eat that they don't respond to corn all that well.

Forecasts usually start showing up in Seprember, but I'm already seeing some nice ones... Also looks like a good fawn crop.

Looks to be an outstanding season coming up for the big antler lovers in the northern hill country.

Also looks like a good fawn crop. Have seen more twins this year as compared to last year.

From what I have seen it is going to be one of the best years for horns that I have ever seen, at least in the Hill Country.

They'd be so much better if they had antler restrictions

If precipation has anything to do with it, and it does, should be above average. I am already seeing above antler growth on mature bucks here in Menard County. I predict that the greatest improvement in antler growth will be in parts of the Trans Pecos where they do not typically have late winter and spring rains. This year has been exceptional and I look for a boost in antler growth and body condition like we have not seen in many years. Adios, Gary

Well Im not in the hill country, but I went to my place yeasterday, and saw 5 bucks running together. They were much bigger than any we have ever shot and much more healthy then what I expected. This years rainfall has done a wonderful job of getting the deer herd in more favorable conditions. Im just worried about the abundance of acorns this year
