2009 Bucks For the last 3 years we have had poachers on our property. Last year I started hunting them in September. They will get to our land about 4:30 in the afternoon, so I would get there about 2:00 and wait for them. They rattle the same way every time, so it is easy to know that it is them. One day last year I heard them, so I was in full camo and started glassing over the hill for about 30 minutes and could hear them but not see them. Just my head was above the horizon, so I thought I would go to the next bush. Well he was rattling just before I went over the hill and as soon as I was on top he must have seen me because he stopped. So I pretended to be looking for a buck. In about 15 minutes I went over the next hill away from him as if I was leaving, and waited for about 15 minute and he started rattling again. This guy has the nerve. It is not the first time I have heard him calling. In our family we have about 1500 acres and the nearest road is about 1 mile to where I hunt. So anyway when opening day of bow season came around it was a full moon, therefore I did not use any light to get to my stand. I went to my stand about 3:30 am and with no light I spooked a buck, he ran about 100 yards and stopped and snorted. This was not unusual, it has happened many times to me, but what I heard next got me mad. The poacher was in the bushes about 70 yards to my left, at 3:30 in the morning. How do I know? Him and his buddy locate each other the same way, first they blow a location deer call then a hoot owl call and repeat it 5 times. They must be using night vision and he may have seen me and thought I was his buddy because he used the location call, but I did not reply just went to my stand and hoped he would leave. He did not leave. It took him about 15 minutes to get where the big bucks where in my area. He was now about 20 yards from me, I could hear him stepping on the branches and breaking them, by this time it was about 4:00 am. He was on my right and did his location call again to locate his buddy, his buddy was on my left about 150 yards past our valley, his buddy responded with the same call. By this time it was getting about 4:30 am. It's not a good feeling to know that there is a person that close to you at 4:30 am and not be able to see them. At about 5:00 am there was a different type of call which was 3 short grunts, and they must have left because I did not hear them anymore. Our bucks normally go deep into the woods after mid Oct. but by mid Dec. they are back at our feeders. Last year all we had left was small bucks, yearlings. In early September 2009, I was having 10 good bucks at my feeders around 3:00 am, some which are in the pictures. My pictures by the last week of September was having 1 steady buck which was a small buck. These guys are known to come into an area and take off the big bucks but leave the small ones. This year I have the local game warden hunting on our land. He is very excited to get to hunt here. For many reasons. This year the bucks are in velvet right now being it is July but you can tell it's going to be a good season, unless they return. 2010 Bucks

So did you actually see them, or did you just hear them? Why didn't you yell at the dude after you got in your stand? and why are you getting in your stand at 3:30 in the morning? I have a lot of questions

I sometimes get in the stand at 2 am , the poachers get there about 2:30,they come in on the road that borders our property about 1 mile away. You can see them get out of their truck and someone else drives off. They walk in on full moon nights. It's just a matter of time before they are caught. You don't just yell at someone on your land , because you don't know if they might be high on meth or something.

Here's the same responce I posted the last time you posted this story in February. I really hope you get these guys !!
Nightvision, expensive but your whole family can chip in afterall it's protecting all of your land.
Get the wireless internet cameras set up ( the one's that email you game camera pictures to your email ) and set one up along the road. If you get emails of pics at late night / early morning hours it would seem like a good indicator that someone may be doing something they shouldn't be.

If they're this predictable, it should be very easy to catch them.
If you know they're there, call the warden. He'll get it done.

I DID HAVE A LEGIT PROBLEM A FEW YEARS AGO ON A SMALL PLACE, NEIGHBORS DIDN'T LIKE THAT I WAS HUNTING THEIR "PETS" MY STUFF KEPT GETTIN MESSED WITH. HERE'S HOW I SOLVED IT, I WENT AND BOUGHT A BUNCH OF NO TRESSPASSING SIGNS THEN WROTE IN BRIGHT RED PERMANTENT MARKER. "IRFRARED CAMERAS IN USE, TRESSPASSER WILL BE PROSECUTED." I PLACED THOSE SIGNS ALL OVER AND AROUND BLINDS AND FEEDERS AND NEVER HAD ANOTHER PROBLEM. POACHERS ARE SCUM AND WANT WHATS EASY, IF THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THEY'LL BE ON CAMERA THEN THEY'LL LEAVE. I WOULD ALSO KEEP A SIDE ARM AND YELL AT THEM AND FIRE INTO THE AIR. SCARE THE HELL OUT OF THEM.

Serve notice by posting signs, then when heard at distance yell to let them know your near, next by AR and when you pin point their location...fire for effect safely into a good strong tree!Listen for foot race to begin!

If you know where they are being dropped off at the road sit there and wait and get the plate number on the vehicle. Then you can call the game warden and the problem is solved.

I WOULD ALSO KEEP A SIDE ARM AND YELL AT THEM AND FIRE INTO THE AIR. SCARE THE HELL OUT OF THEM. Might want to go slow with this approach. Drawing and firing might provoke, and legally authorize, them to use deadly force in self-defense against you. The converse is also true if they draw on you. Also, confrontations like this can be very dangerous. There is no way to know if they have friends keeping a lookout and whether someone is watching you without you knowing it.

This whole story is a bunch of 20 yards away on a full moon night and you didn't see him Deer grunt and hoot owl making noise to each other Aren't you the guy that has a 12" WIDE gap in your feeder fence and said no pigs go in but fawns come and go? Your whole story is BS. Especially if you think they are killing all your big buck

Answer to your statement, I did say that the fawn gate will keep out hogs but not babiies , if the big hogs can't go in the pen the small ones won't stay long when the others leave. I did not say the gate was 12" wide , if you check out the system you would know that it is 8" wide . Also about not seeing the poachers when they are 20 away it is night and they were in the bushes on a trail.
