Not wanting to start that war again, but on my place all Rattlers and Porcupines are eliminated. I invite allot of people out on my place and the last thing i want to happen is have one of their kids bit or have their favorite dog tangle with a Desert Beaver.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

That's definitely a rat snake. This year on a lease in East Texas I had one crawl away from me, about 10' from me when I was setting up a fold out table in camp. I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn't looking at a copperhead. Now about a year ago I went to pick up my shotgun, my brother borrowed for a dove hunt. He had some day workers clearing out some cane from a creek bank behind his house earlier, and what do I see moving through the cut cane? A 5' water moccassin slowly crawling towards the water. It's amazing what a 12ga. express mag with no. 7's will do to it's head... GONE!!!!!

Grandma called that a "Chicken Snake" because they stayed around her chicken house hunting rats and mice that were feeding on hen scratch. They climb really well and will make you hurt yourself trying to get away.

Yep, they are definately out right now near Cotulla in South Texas. Saw two rattlers yesterday morning, one about the size of my upper arm around, and it had 10 rattlers, with the emphasis on "had", and a smaller one which was only about three feet long!
Say what you want about walking around them and talk about nature and all, but there are plenty of snakes in the thorny brush and prickly pear of South Texas for plenty of nature to exist, but I'm going to do my best to clear my path of the critters whenever I get the chance!

Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

porkchop, that there be a Eastern Rat. Can be a real mean SOB at first, but after a while they calm down. Constriction is it's method to kill it's prey. They love them rats. No farm should be without a bunch of them. Most chickens will run them off before they get to the eggs. Rattlesnakes HATE them. O'l button will loose everytime.

Hey guys an easy way to tell if a snake is poisonious or not is to look at his eyes. Generally if a snake has round pupils he is not poisonious. Poisonious snakes have eyes that looks like a cats eye (slit eyes). The only snakes that are poisonious that don't have slit eyes are the Coral Snake, the Cobra and I think the two Mambas.
Smart A** - It's like Tourettes, you can't control it.

Yeah we have them around my tank and My neighbors have chickens. He puts golf balls around his chickens and those snakes eat em. I killed one last spring that had a golf balll in its stomach......that thing was hurting!
