I shot a limit of 15 with 13 shells. Got two birds with one shot twice! Beat that!

I'm not sure I've ever shot a limit, but I'll go through 2-3 boxes on opening day, LOL.

I got my limit in dragonflies in about a box opening weekend last season. From there on, birds started flying and I got one every 3-4 shots

I hunt birds a LOT.... and see a LOT of shooters..... and most shoot a LOT more than you guys...... so you are a LOT better than most!

i dont carry enough shells with me to limit out. it gets too heavy

buncha damn liars... lol i didnt expect anyone to answer that question honestly though. It should have been an anonymous poll, people MIGHT have answered that honestly. That being said I agree that dove hunting has as much to do with location as skill. I shot a limit of doves in my face just outside of allen city limits with an honest 23 shells. I shot a limit of late season high fliers with 39 shells. For those conditions, I was happy with that.

I shoot a single shot .410 and usually carry 16 shells. I carry an extra in case I see a snake or nice bull frog. Never come home without a limit...true story.

That's some expensive shootin'! My son uses one, I cringe every time I hear it go bang.

My cousin has a super duper nice .410 pump. I would love to own that gun.

I think I get about 7 or 8 per box- I carry about two or three into the field in my shooters belt and always end up stacking them back in the box after the birds stop flying. I've never limited on doves, unless you can add two hunts together!

When I shoot skeet or sporting clays, I shoot consistently about 70%. Funny how that % drops when they're live birds. Most of my misses are because of poor shot selection (shooting when the birds are well out of range).

Assuming light wind,opening day and stupid birds, I almost always get my 15 with a box or less. Throw in a 20 mph south wind and let the birds get shot at a few times and that number will definitely go up.

Now, if I've got a good sunflower field and can walk and kick them up, 15 for 15 is possible, but it's not automatic. That's the easiest shooting for me.

Typically shooting my single shot i miss two times per limit.

I take 4-5 boxes with me and leave when they are gone and normally have 4 or 5 birds. But I had a heck of a time getting those few. Only shot a limit 2 times with less than a box

If the birds are there, i can shoot a limit with about 20 shell's.

I have went 11 for 11 once.

I thought I was a decent shot but I think everyone on this forum can out shoot me. I have hunted with hundreds and hundreds of people over the years and I bet there isnt 15 people that I have hunted with that can shoot a limit of dove regularly with a box of shells.

Ohhhhhh...about 50 birds to a box of 25 shells...I'm that good.....do ya'll believe that.... if you do I've a got a cruise ship I need to sell you in the middle of the Sahara desert.
The truth is I really don't know. I haven't dove hunted in about 20 to 25 years, but we are going to hit it full force this year. It will be interesting to see how I do, especially after all the time we have spent shooting trap and skeet. I'm hoping for a 2:1 (shells:birds) ratio but that may be a little wishful. The last time I went on a serious dove hunt I shot 3 boxes of shells and came home with nothing, but that was 20 to 25 years ago and I had no formal shotgun training at all.

I would be willing to bet there are some guys on here that are coming in real light on their numbers...you would think dove hunters were worse than fisherman.

the only person you can believe is me, normally its 17 shells for a limit...15 for the birds and 2 to pepper my dog gene when needed
