Welcome to THF, WingDragger Nice birds y'all have up yonder! I'm not familiar with the Throckmorton area, but I'm sure somebody will come along here shortly that is. Enjoy our site. Lots of great folks here with great ideas and lots of experience in all kinds of hunting. ...and there's a li'l BS mixed in now and then for good measure...

Welcome to the forum. That does not look like Throckmorton Co. Bring your snake boots.

Welcome to THF! Some good looking pics there. Throckmorton will not look anything like what you have in those pics as far as the terraine, but there are tons of birds in that area and you should have a great time. -Greg

SHOULD BE GOOD HUNTING THERE, YOU'LL BE HUNTING RIO GRANDS AND LIMIT SHOULD BE FOUR GOBBLERS. I BET YOU'LL THINK THEY ARE TOO EASY...

You're buddy speaks the truth. Turkey are almost as thick as the wild hogs in that neck of the woods. Good luck, and welcome aboard!

I hunt dove and quail out there but not turkeys. Have other friends who do hunt turkeys and they tell me there are plenty. You need to stay at the motel with the big metal catfish in front, but I can recall the name.

These birds are different than those easterns you're used to. Get ready to hear more gobbling than you've ever heard in your whole life. Hunt near water, and you'll be fine.

That's what I hear. In two weeks I'll be there. In the meantime I'm working on these SC Easterns.
