I was going to send these pics to HTW and 214tat2guy but figured others might like to see them.
A friend and I hiked back into a wilderness area about 4 miles today looking around for deer and elk sign. There was still too much snow up there for the animals to be in there good yet but we still had a great time.
This is a toad we saw

Getting closer but realized we went too far west. lol

Me

Me beating the heat lol

Mt Washington

Hunting country

Nice view

checking out a ridge for sign

Just thought you guys might like to see some new country as I always like to see pics of hunting country in other areas.

It's a .223. I didn't want to pack a heavier rifle in but I have a cougar tag so I figured I'd better bring the AR since its light. We ran across a group of hikers and they sure gave us a funny look when they saw the AR sticking out. smile

We made it up to about 6000ft today and didn't go any futher because we didn't feel like dealing with the snow but we started getting into patches of snow at about 5000ft. That Mt. will melt off but the three sisters(nearby) are higher and there will be snow on them when the new snow falls. After a few 90+ degree days around here, it sure felt good to get up in that stuff and feel the wind blowing across it. My weather meter said it was 66 degrees.

Great pics, Thanks for sharing them. Don't you post over on predator masters?
What kind/brand is your backpack? Isn't your rifle in it, sticking out?
Dang, sounds like I'm interogating you, huh.

Nice. My dad lives in Bend. Not too far from there. They got mulies and quail in their backyard.

D.G. I haven't been on the predator masters site but I think I'll check it out. smile
My pack is an eberlestock phantom. The rifle scabbard is much bigger but I didn't fold it out for the AR since its so short. I easily pack my hunting rifle in the pack/scabbard and its 51" long and around 20lbs.

We'll be ready for you. Thats one good thing about Oregon. A guy can head up in the high country and cool off a bit. That spot is only an hour away from my house and, if I drive an hour and a half the other direction, I can be at the coast and its always a lot cooler on the beach. We can be in the 90s at home and it'll be in the high 70's to low 80's in the high country and in the 60's on the beach.

Ya, I have to admit that we're quickly becoming Ca's little brother. It's still pretty good in my area because of the small town mentality but, around the cities, its bad.
