i left remington my 5 month old lab with a family member, when we went out of town, not thinking to tell them not to teach him anything cause he's a cop that carries a K-9 with him, well let's say noone can really come in the back yard now which is good, but he is young so he is not that scary yet

What did the guy train him to do? I've got a lab pup that is starting to get pretty protective. He is socialized, loves people, and gets lots of exercise, but will sit there and growl whenever he hears something outside.
