Look what showed up at the clinic Monday afternoon. All the way from the Anchorage taxidermist is Dave's rug of his grizzly taken on the Seward Peninsula in April, 2009. It scores 25 9/16, putting it high up in the B&C book, probably in the top 60 all-time.

The rug already has a spot reserved in our new home's trophy room near Tyler, now under construction...

I've always hunted Alaska with my .338 WM. This bear was taken with the 250 gr Nosler Partition, as was the brownie I took off Kodiak a few years prior. I generally shoot moose, caribou, and black bears with the same bullet, but in 210 grs. The scope is a 2x7 Leupold. If there is a better battery for Alaska hunting, I haven't seen it.

I paid ten-five for the hunt. Sadly, it's now gone up to twelve-five.

Thats a heck of a bear!!!

$10.5K is a great deal for a bear in that class as well!! When I was pricing those hunts a few years ago most trophy class Griz hunts I was seein were in the $18K+ range. My original plan was to go to Africa for a Cape Buffalo, but then decided I could do a Griz hunt cheaper. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!

Great lookin rug!!! flehan
