Went out and picked up a 12 gauge o/u today at Academy. Went through almost every box in the store and ended up with a pretty good looking stock. I know you get what you pay for in life and this is by no means an expensive gun, but wanted to know some of y'alls opinions?
I mainly got it to have an extra around so I can get my Dad in the field with me more often and to shoot dove with. May shoot some ducks with it, but we'll see.
Opinions on it please

I shot a 20 gauge all dove and duck season. Between those two and clays, I've put over 1000 through it. No probs other than it kicks more than most 20's.

Had one when I was around 15-16ish for a few years. Shot roughly 10,000rnds through it at skeet. Put a lot of money into it to reduce recoil. Never had a problem with it, but I would not recommend it for what I used it for.
Its a fine hunting/field gun.

I worked at Academy for two months last year, sold lots of Yildiz shotguns. They are very popular and everyone seems to really like them.
Good luck with it.

Worked at Academy for a little over four years, only had 5-6 come back for warranty work.
If it means anything I saw more 870's come back than Yildiz...But we probably sold atleast five 870 to every Yildiz.
If your just looking for a field gun they are fine. I would highly recommend having a recoil pad fitted since they are so light. They come with five choke tubes and a three year warranty from Briley in Houston.

I have a 12 ga O/U, too, and I use it a lot for clays, dove and upland. I bought the limb saver for it, but I still don't know if I'd use it for ducks. The heavier loads and kick, not to mention I like that 3rd shot for waterfowl, has kept me from trying it.
I did a lot of research a couple of years ago when I was in the market for an O/U. You don't hear many complaints about them. For the dough they are great field guns.
Also, the fact that they are backed up by Academy (Briley down the road in Houston) is a big plus. If you have a problem take it back to the Academy where you bought it and they'll handle everything free of charge.

I have a 12 and a 20 and I love them both. I have had no problems out of either and they are good shooters.

I have the 20 gauge and love it. I would get the limbsaver recoil pad, as the gun is very light. Might also add some weight to the butt.

I picked one up three years ago when my A5 went down the week before dove season. I love it, knocked down plenty of dove with it. A guy that hunted with me was so impressed with it he went out and bought one.
On a side note, I like only having two shots for dove, it keeps me honest. Now for ducks, I always have a third mainly because I dont get a lot of good looks.
