My 5 month old Britt had her first shot today, now she acts like she is in severe pain when she moves her back leg.(same leg she got the shot in) have any of y'all been in this situation or have any advice to help with the pain? Thanks,Ben

The shot was given intramuscularly and it is rather common for some transient pain and lamenes to occur for a day or two. I would call your vet tomorrow if it is still painful and maybe some pain meds can be prescribed. Even if the pup is fine tomorrow, your vet will want to know about the untoward reaction and when the second booster is given next month, some pain meds can be sent home. Don't let this make you shy away from the rattlesnake vaccine--it may just save your dog's life one day. Dave

Seems fine today, doesn't act like it bothers her at all.

An intramuscular shot can also be given in the neck muscles, too. I do it all the time. You won't see the lameness issues as with the first guy's pup. Dave

Red Rock can be given under the skin or muscle. We put it under the skin to avoid the muscle pain.
