I have had one come in to a woodie call before, but I agree, you gotta be where they wanna go. A couple decoys always seemed to make them land a little closer.....I say maybe on the callin and yes on the decoys

I know they are attracted to decoys but I don't try and call them.

they work once in a while. by once in a while, i mean, wood ducks were my number 1 bird last year and i called in maybe 10 of them. by calling them in, i mean they were going away and i turned em.
99% of the time they dont work, but if it works 1 time for every 100 birds that fly by, im gonna carry it with me.
I like spoonie, his humor is dryer than my duck lease.

One morning a few years ago on onpening day, I heard a woody screaching. So I got out my wood duck call and screached back. He continued circling out of sight, but still calling. I hit the call again and about a few minutes after that, he splashed down in the middle of my spread. I was in flooded timber when this happened.
Take 'em!

i highly believe that a woodduck call an decoy's are a big benifit when hunting woodduck's. here's one example, click on box,to listen an it has'nt proved wrong anytime, just have to know when to call,an don't over shoot the area. or the woodducks will move out an go somewere else. enjoy see-ya steve
