My brother and I were talking the other day about deer hunting when we were kids/teenagers. When hunting on our lease, my family always made brush blinds out of cedars and just put metal folding chairs down for seats. I never hunted out of box blinds till I got older and we were wondering if anyone still made brush blinds. Have any of you ever hunted out of brush blinds or still hunt out of brush blinds?

Yeah, all the time when we're looking for a deer that doesn't hit feeders. If the wind is in your favor, they're very effective.

We always have 2-3 brush blinds on our place each year . I like hunting out of them for a change .

My very first whitetail was killed from a brush blind so to speak. Rather it was not a man man made one. But it was a two very large pecan trees on my grandparents place that had been blown over by high winds. Some of the large branches(like 10" in diameter) fell from these trees while the main trunks stayed there but they both split about 8' up from their bases. The way the limbs fell made a great place to get in to hunt. The large branches and sticks made some great cover. I remember hunting inside all of that and watching the edde of the woods line on a early November morning with a little bit of fog like it was yesterday morning when it happened. One of the most memorable hunts of my life!

Yes but it depends on the number of deer in an area. After I've patterned a buck to an area, if there aren't too many deer in that area I'll just snuggle up in some brush. If there are a lot of deer and I know I'm going to be in a busy area, I'll build a brush blind so none of them see me. But I always build them low to the ground; never high enough to sit in a chair. I build them around a tree that's comfortable to lean back on and cut me a Y shaped shooting stick. Sitting on the ground, leaned back on a tree, shooting off the stick, I can make 250 yard shots all day long. I can't get that steady (or hidden) sitting in a chair.

I will every once in a while depending on property I'm hunting. Palmettos stuck in the ground around you w/ a tree as a backrest works well.

My father in law still has a brush blind and box blind at every feeder at the game ranch.

Yes as needed. Typically though I have a tripod that is very light and I can move it by myself just carrying it. So here lately I just have been moving that around.

Best brush blind I ever had was when a dozer push some trees and made a pile for burning. Climbing in that thing took some time but when situated in there the deer could never pick up on me as long as the wind was right. Main thing was it looked natural and I think we lose that with a lot of the box blinds.

My most productive feeder has a brush blind. 2X4 frame we add fresh cedar branches every year. You can bring a chair or go low and shoot through. 124 yards to the feeder and the biggest buck was taken 60 yds.

I have one. Blind is on top of a hill and I can see for miles around. Makes for a peacefull hunt when it is not windy or raining.

The brush piles on my property are absolutely loaded with varmints and snakes including rattlers. I'd be careful.

Last year was my first year to put together my first brush blind. That next weekend I hunted out of it and got so close to a spike that I could see the water on the end of his nose. Later when my dad hunted the stand a nice 6pt walked buy that no one had ever seen. I didn't hunt out of anything else the whole season except for my bow stand.

Same here Cameron00. I hunt in Sweetwater/Colorado City area, rattler capital. No brush blind or pop-up for me!
