Still undecided about a fixed stand, climber or popup. The popup have a shoot thru mesh. Has that given anyone trouble shooting thru it? Do you have to use fixed blades or can you get by with machanical? Any other tips for popups
Thanks, Jigfish
The weak call it obsession, the strong call it dedication!!!

On my popup I will cut a perfect vertical slit and sometimes position my broadhead where it will get no resistance.
I have noticed sometimes depending on where the sun is , it can make it hard to see pins through the mesh.
Make sure your bow tent is tall enough and big enough. I have to have the bigger tent due to my size

I've never shot through mesh, and I'm sure I never will.. My thinking anything that touches my broad head will affect the flight.

I wouldn't shoot through mesh, either. I have a popup and just wear all black when I hunt out of it.

I can tell you if you shoot through the mesh with the muzzle loader you won't have it anymore.

gun control means hitting what you are aiming at!

I keep hearing don't shoot through mesh at all also. I hear it is even worse when the mesh is wet!

We have shot through the mesh several times on our double bulls. We use a fixed blade Steel Force PHAT head broad head and it has not ever bothered the flight of the arrow.
Now with this being said, we do not shoot through the mesh anymore as wearing all black clothing is easier and the mesh makes the footage look soft...

Shot through it once and it didn't effect the flight but it has to be taut. BUT I can't get good video footage so I don't anymore.

I have always wondered why bowhunters will practice with the broadheads they will use while huntin, practice shootin at elevated heights, practice shootin at different poistions, but NEVER shoot thru their pop up's mesh!!! Instead, they will cut holes all in it with their knife!!! The only way you will know what YOUR arrow will do is send it thru the mesh at your target. Just shoot thru it a half dozen times and see if every shot turns out the same. You may be surprised.

I have shot about 16 deer out of my double bull using a G5 montec and have never had one arrow deflect or fly untru. All shots made impact at point of aim and were at ranges of 5-45yds. As far as shooting mechanicals through the mesh, I have never tried.

I dont shoot through the mesh that comes with the stands because it is thick and hard to get tight but you can buy thinner mesh at Bass Pro Shops and just use some pins to put it on. I have shot fixed blades and expandables through it and ive never had a problem. You just have to make sure the mesh is pulled tight and you should be fine

May depend on the blind, but tight mesh on a double bull is double trouble...

I have shot two deer through the mesh and was not pleased either time. I will not do it any more. I do use the mesh, but I shoot through a small slit.

this is a good post... I was wondering the same thing, and never tried shooting at a target through the mesh.
Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

I've always been scared to get some sort of deflection from the mesh.. I just wear black and leave the windows open.
