hows he doing since his "Assult rifle" quip?

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Something about AR's being terrorist weapons and they should be banned from hunting uses.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Yeah, after tons of hate mail and sponsers dropping him. Maybe if we all used Remington 700's or Winchester M70's we'd live in his perfect world.

It's just funny how he can say assult rifles are terrorist weapons when those 300 RUM's he shoots are capable of becomming a sniper rifles.

Most of these guys are just salesmen who work for these big companies that are selling their products.

Same as any employer would be upset if one of their employees said something that would damage the reputation of that company they would be terminated.

He got lucky, and did damage control in the nick of time!

I kinda understand where he came from. I have no need or desire for any of those type guns. I would never say they should be banned though, give em and inch and they will take a mile. I'll just choose to not buy one.

Yes, that works for you and I, but when you work for someone, your opinion and status is never bigger than the companies you work for, and he forgot that for a little while.

That's understandable. If you don't like them, fine. I've just recently gotten into them and I love mine.

It's just that this NRA shouting bone head Zumbo made the remark that they should be banned from hunting uses. Considering he is so much of a supporter of the NRA you'd think the last thing he'd want to promote would be further restrictions on hunters.

That is why I said I would never say it.

Some may not recall but when he made that statement AR's wern't really as popular as they are today, and in fact they were just starting to catch on at the time.

Not to defend what he said, but there were at that particular time, more people that felt the same way as he did, and have since changed their minds with the availability and momentum of following they have now!

I saw that he was on Ted Nugent's "Spirit Of The Wild" right after that incident. It was all a very staged tongue lashing that he received from Uncle Ted, after which they went to the range with two AR's..one of which was Sharmane's pink stocked one. Jim shot hers.

I'm still on the fence in terms of hunting w/ them...just going out and spraying hogs is a lil' different than hunting though. hammer

I used to feel that way. Last year I bought a AR in 308. Have used it on both deer and hogs. I don't think I'll ever go back to a bolt action rifle.

coffee spelled backwards is eeffoc. I don't give eeffoc until I have my morning coffee.

They'll never replace a fine bolt action, wood stocked hunting rifle, but they've come a long way as being a tack driving mild recoil rifle that is just a pleasure and fun to shoot!

I think 6.8 SPC in the AR platform would be about a perfect all-around use rifle for here in Texas. Otherwise, I'll stick with my bolt actions.

I'm going the opposite direction with purchasing new weapons. Instead of using a "black rifle",....I'm using a black powdered rifle...LOL...I also put the Matthews bow aside for a long bow. I want to get simpler in hunting and rely more on my skills versus high-tech weaponry. No offense to you AR hunters.......just my two cents.
