The other post was getting really long and the title did not represent our plan. If you or someone you know is interested in meeting to discuss the possibility of forming this club please respond. It would be really nice to try and meet sometime next week in the evening. We can agree on a central meeting spot using this post. This club is open to any type of pointing dog breed or if you just want to join some bird dog people.
Topics for the meeting:(Please Add) 1. Areas to train and shoot 2 Membership dues-(Honestly, unless we are leasing or renting some land we should not have to charge these dues or they can be minimal. We can plan on bringing in professional trainers and then decide the cost. 3.??
This club can truly be a fun outlet for bird dog trainers to learn from each other and watch great dogs perform and soon great dogs develop. We can make it as simple as we want it to be. We can just meet once a month at a different field to train and shoot birds and later do some canned quail hunts. The sky is the limit for all that are interested.

Im in. Just say when and where. +l Looks like we have one from the north, one from the west & i'm southeast, so where do you want to meet? I also have a pretty good spot that we could keep pigeons or quail at my house if we built something.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

The only major question I have is....Do I get credit for coming up with the name?! I'm in. Let me know when and where. I have an idea about a meeting/training grounds that I'm gonna look into for this.

Here is an idea. If everyone that is interested can name where they will be coming from than we can agree on a central meeting place and time that is a fair driving distance for us. I know most of us already have this on our profile but I have friends that are not on this forum yet that want to join this club.
Yes, the inventor of the name gets full credit and first shot at a quail or pigeon for a great, innovative name.
I am in North Carrollton, my friend is in Little Elm, and my other buddy lives in Irving.

Well this was posted all most a week ago so hopefully everyone that is interested has had time to reply.
Lets look at 2 options for our first meeting:
1. Meet at the Whaterburger by Basspro off of 121 on Thursday. We have so many people coming from different places around the metro and plus its by Bass Pro. OR 2. Whoever has a field or area to train in, we could meet there and bring our training birds and dogs. We could talk about the club and then work our dogs. This would need to be an early morning session say around 7:30 this coming Sat. morning. I know of some training areas around Little Elm, but you can only use a starter pistol. The fields are good for young dogs. If we can get our first official vote than we can proceed with our plans. Just wondering, who has fields that they currently use now? How awesome would it be to combine all of our fields, public or private, and expose our dogs to the different types of terrain. This club will benefit us by sharing our knowledge and practices, but our dogs will greatly benefit by the overall exposure. Have a great Sunday. I am training late, late this evening if anyone wants to join. I run my dogs on some private property and it is really great. Its a little over 200 acres and has a nice mix of crp, soft dirt, and a small pasture.

I wish I could, but driving all the way to Grapevine is too far from Mesquite, then have to go from Grapevine to Cedar Creek to get home (2 hrs). The main reason I thought this would be good for me was because when it was brought up by the original poster, it was going to be on the east side of Dallas. No problem, sounds like most of y'all are on that side so it should work out good for y'all. I'll try to get to one of the training sessions.

I could probably make it from time to time, but the kids' schedules usually dictate when and where I am on any given evening or weekend. If you can keep us all updated on meetings, outings, etc., that would be appreciated!!

Well we have a new plan. We are going to train in a field close to Carrollton this Sat. at 7:30 am. I can give you my address if you would like because the field is really close to my house. We are hoping that we can use different fields each month and use this forum as a device to let people know where. Please try and show up because we will rotate fields each month. Members will need to bring their birds with them and if you have a starter pistol that would be helpful too. My friend and I are starting a pigeon trapping session now and hopefully will start catching pigeons soon. We will sell them for 4 bucks a bird which is what others are selling them for. I am looking forward to meeting everyone Sat morning.
PM me if you have any questions. I have already talked to several members and they have great places to train that are closer than Grapevine and sound like perfect places to work our dogs.

Myself the same...thought we would be closer to our side of the moon.Haven't heard nothing back of the original poster either. Life has ways of butting into plans and hobbies though. Good luck n safe training/hunting to you all!
