Our local 4H club is looking to buy 4 Rogue Rifle Company Chipmunk TM Target Model 22 rifles for their new youth competitve shooting program. Does anyone know where to buy some or can you suggest an alternative? Thanks email rockind308@aol.com

You could ask a local dealer if they could give you a deal as the rifles are to be used to teach young shooter (future customers )that might work on the right dealer. I've never seen one of the target models at a Walmart. I don't know if they do this but perhaps the CMP might be able to help I know they sell some surplus and new Anschutz .22 rifles. Maybe even a grant for your club? Good luck. www.odcmp.com

I can't find any Chipmunks right now at our online wholesalers. I'd sell them to you at cost..but we are LONG way apart.
Davey Cricket's are available, Stevens bolts are too, but they are either tube or mag fed, no singles.
Rossi single shots ar ea thought, can even get combo guns for about the same money and have a shotgun barrel for each one as the gets get older.
I'll PM you with more details.

Does Savage still make their youth model single shot bolt action?
I can't recall the model number offhand, but my son has one and it is a sturdy and accurate rifle. It came from Wal Mart and cost around $100. This was 4 years ago.
It has a youth size stock but it is rather heavy for a small frame child. It is a youth size but quite a bit larger than the Chipmunk/Cricket.
I think it would make a very good "training" gun for most kids from around age 7 or 8 on up.
Good luck.

They make them, but they cost more than that now. I mentioned the Savage/Stevens guns to him in a PM. They'd be a good choice.
I think I'd look heavily at the Rossi single shots with the 20 ga barrel. As those kids grow up, the 4H can shift them over to clays with the 20ga's, for about the same money.

Thanks for all the responses. I have forwarded them to the 4H club for their consideration. Marlin and Savage had several target models with peep sights.
