Last weekend was my first time to go varmint hunting. I took the wife and it took 30 seconds of my homemade caller and we had 10 foxes within 15 yards and I saw several about 150-200 away running as fast as they could towards us. I wish I had a camera. I dont want shoot them yet b/c I dont know what to do with them. What do you guys do?

You can mount them or tan the hides.
Get with your local taxidermist and see what's being done in your area. Make sure you have a trapper's license if you intend to sale the pelts.
Also the Fur-Bearing Animal Digest is good guide in case you need more info on this.

wow, that is a lot of fox. Most hunters will never have near that many animals in one stand thier entire life. What a way to start! If I were you I would find somebody in the area that buys fur and see if they are buying.

I try to give them away. That is a lot of fox. The most I've called in one spot is 6 or 7. Sounds like they may need to be thinned out some.

It was awesome. I have never seen anything like it before. Did you guys see that comercial with the cat hurders. It had all the cats running across a field.......that is exactly what it looked like. LOL How many would you guys kill? I dont want to thin them out so much that we dont see any. The land I hunt is only 50 acres.

Not sure. Most people would shoot all they could. They will eventually get a little call shy anyway. There is no way you could shot them all. In some places that I call, we quit shooting them when they first come in and wait to get a coyote or bobcat in.

They are grays; there is no way that they're reds.

Good skinned fox not blown up are bringing $15 each. On the cob about $10. Grey fox skulls sell for about $4 each undamaged.

I take what I won't use to the local taxi man. He was going to mount one for his showroom last year that I took him. Some of them will do the mount then turn around and sell them. Might even be able to give them so many in trade for a mount later on?

Do you have any pictures of your call. I am thinking about making one and I am looking for advice.

I will get you some this weekend. When I get off work today I will look at the the other forums where I found the directions and send you a link. Or you can try and go to some of the other hunting forums and search for ecaller and you will find some good instructions. It is basically the same as on Varmint Al's website except I mounted it in the smallest tool box from walmart. Let me know if you cant find the directions.
