Just got a line on a marlin lever action 30-30. Similar to my Winchester but side eject……but that is a huge difference.

I prefer a side eject. Easier to mount a scope if you want, and you don't have brass flying into your face....was that the question????

The question is what is the main difference between the marlin brand and the winchester brand? Beside's the side eject?

Winchester is no longer in production, Marlin is.

Marlin's are inherently more accurate, completely different internals, more durable, and parts are more standardized.
Winchesters are more nostalgic, prettier, lighter, and usually worth more...
I prefer Marlins, but I am a user not a collector

I love my 336 in 30-30 and I love my granddads 94 both have different purposes so it really depends on what your going to do with it.
You can't handle the truth!

Usually, the Marlin has a monte-carlo style stock while the winchester has just a straight stock. Also, massn8v was correct, the side eject is much easier to mount a scope. However, the 30-30 round is not a long-distance round, so mounting a scope is not necessary. It's handy, but not necessary. I have a Marlin 336, and I mounted a scope with See-Through rings, so that I can use my open sights for quicker, short-range shots, but still have the ability to use the scope for the longer shots. The link below shows you what rings I'm talking about:
