My Step Mother of 20 years is from Mexico and has family that owns 5000 acres 15 miles from Mexico City. We're not close but I talked with my father, they're going down there for a wedding, and asked to check if I could hunt down there just for the hunt not so much to keep any horns or meat.
What I was wondering,if I can make a trip, is there anything I should know ? I'm totaly ignorant when it comes to hunting outside Texas.I know I'll have to check local laws and what not but there are always those "unwritten laws".. Kind of like a code of ethics.I'm mexican but I aint from mexico. Born and raised in Texas. More then likely the trip will be made with my father and step mom. But also are there like best times to be hunting in Mexico ?
Just any advice or experiances are welcome.
I aslo wanted to add : What kind of wildlife will I see or be able to hunt ? I'm sure I will be filled in when the time comes but I just want a heads up on what to expect and be ready for.
Thank you in advance !!

Down that far there is a big assortment of game. From Sheep up high to couse down low and inbetweeners are unlimited.I am unsure if the seasons are over for this year if you are talking about this year. There are several cats, bear, and all types of sheep from bighorn on down.If you go now you would most likely have to borrow a firearm of your choice from a family member there are forms to be filed out in advance for crossing with guns.If every thing panned out just right and the only thing you liked was gun I would suggest calling an outfitter and leasing one from them. You can try Beto Figuroua in Eagle pass he is a good helper for crossing.don't forget the new passport law good luck

Might want to recheck the ranges of some of the animals you listed. If the ranch in question, is within 15 miles of Mexico City, I don't think there are any Desert Bighorns or Coues Deer very close. I believe there will be some species of whitetail deer and Javelinas, but not real sure on any other game animals.

Hunting in Mexico is fun if your are complying with all the mexican laws, which BTW are many.
You best bet would be to hire an outfitter to help you with all the paperwork. By no means try to smuggle any firearm nor ammunition, it's a Federal offense punished with jail on the first strike.

Mexican law requires a federal hunting license along with documentation that proves that the hunting ground is registered as a such (yes, it needs to be registered so they can collect taxes) and last but not least, this two documents don't automatically give you the right to transport your firearms, you have to have a special permit issued by the department of the defense (the army). In order to give you this permit, you have to have your guns registered, you have to pass a drug test, you need a medical certificate that states that you are in good health fisically and mentally and have to belong to a registered hunting club and you need to be able to show that you have a clean record.

Sounds like a lot of crap? It is, but you need to comply or do it the easy way and hire an outfitter, they take care of all of this for you.

15 miles from Mexico city? I seriously doubt there's any hunting that close to one of the largest cities in the world. And if there's any I'm willing to bet that there's only small mammals.
