Yea I thought the title waz funny...
I just wanted to know if anyone has boiled a hog head before. I was looking to do a Euro Mount with the skull. I know if someone could tell me how I would give it a try. Any info will be well appreciated.

get as much meat off as possible and then simmer for a couple hours......then clean everything off of the skull and get the brain out once you have it all cleaned up soak it in peroxide for a few days and it will whiten it

If you boil the scull, the teeth will fall out. you can slide the teeth in and glue them in place. We have shot several hogs in in Van Zandt county. Good luck

I get as much meat off as possible then bury it for 3 months. Once you get it out, it will just need a spray with a power washer, and peroxide to soak in.

Now your talkin! I just dont think I can handle the smell of the boiling. I have had a few PMs and they said it will stink. I might just find me a good fire ant mound and set a cage over it.

I haven't tried it, but a friend told me to put the head on a fire ant bed and cover it with a big enough bucket. Then put something real heavy on the buket to keep it down and in placed' and cover the edges of the bucket with dirt to keep the stink out. He didn't say how long to leave it' but a month or two and the ants should have it picked clean.
If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

If you are going to boil then you better be single. If you aren't single then prepare to be.

If you bury it you will need to glue the teeth back into its jaws.
I got me a 225-250lbs boar last year but I wasn't thinking about a head mount and thats where I put the crosshairs. Needless to say at 120 yards and a 308win there wasn't much left of the back side of his head. So I cut the upper and lower jaws off and buried them. When I pull them out of the ground the tusks and all his teeth fell out. It took mine about 5 months to be clean but I also buried them during the winter.
They didn't have much of a smell and were really nice looking. I also got to stay in the house and keep my wife. When I mentioned the idea of boiling the jaws my wife threatened to boil me.

Boiling has nothing on maceration when it comes to the stink factor. Go ahead and give it a try, just keep it covered for about a week.

like boil it for a week or boil it for a few hours and let is sit it the pot and keep it covered for a week. No boiling. Clean it as good as you can as far as the hide and meat. Get a bucket and lid-5 gallon-drop it in and cover with water. Get an aquarium heater and drop it in on the warmest setting, put the lid on, and let it sit for a week. Everything will fall off. Dump the water far far away, rinse off the bones, then do the same thing with soapy water to get rid of the grease and fat in the bone. I usually let it soak for a month or two, with a couple of water changes. Finally, I give it a day or two in some stuff called BO. Don't recall what it stands for, but it's a high strength hydrogen peroxide available at pool supply shops. Simple process and pretty effortless, excep for the skinning. Hope this helps.

I think you'll be pleased with the results. Mine have turned out great. Whatever you do, be careful with the BO. It will eat your skin off.

get an old pot, propane deep frier and boil it after you remove the skin and what not. then just start diggin the rest out...when done touch it up with a dremel tool. next let it soak in hydrogen peroxide for a few days...done many skulls this way and its fast and easy.

I have done about 15 pig head euro mounts and boiling is easier than it sounds. Pig meat actually boils off much easier than deer. Put dawn dish soap in the water and it will help with the smell and grease in the skull. After it boils for about an hour pull it out and start scraping the meat off. Do this over and over until it is clean. A pressure washer works great when you are getting close to help get all the small stuff off and blow the brains out. After it is done soak it in Bacuasil Oxidizer. I am not sure of the spelling but you can buy it at pool supply stores by the gallon. Make sure all of the skull is submerged or you will have lines on it. Or if you don't want to do all this just give it to me and I will do it for $100. Let me know if you have questions.

After it is done soak it in Bacuasil Oxidizer. I am not sure of the spelling but you can buy it at pool supply stores by the gallon. this stuff will burn your skin so wear gloves......this is the stuff i use also but you really have to watch what your doing..... regular peroxide is about 3% and BO is 27%.... workes great.
