alright so i have a couple of movers over at my house loading everything up, and one of the guys started telling me about how they're gunna get to do some hunting in oklahoma after they drop my stuff off. i asked him hunting for what. he told me he's going to be deer hunting. when i told him he can't deer hunt this time of year, he swore up and down that it's private land so he can. does oklahoma have some crazy law i'm not aware of that you can deer hunt any time? i know they don't, i just need some confirmation.

Short anwser...No.
There are some on going battles about Tribal land(but as the law currently stands that is also illegal...)

A farmer by law can kill any wildlife destroying their crops in the state of OK. Howexer, you can not harvest the game for any reason. Anyone that is going out to hunt deer right now is poaching! The OK wildlife dept is still in-charge of wildlife on Tribal lands.

JJHunts is right you can hunt deer out of season with a depredation permit....
AND!!!!!
In Oklahoma if you have property that is highfenced for 3+ years then the deer inside are legally YOUR PROPERTY!
Thats right if its highfenced for 3 years then all the deer inside are just like black angus cattle and can be shot any time of year by any means!
In the state of Texas even though it may be highfenced the deer are still property of the state unless you have the breeder papers I believe
Down side....if some one shoots you deer from the road and cuts the highfence and drags it out....they can only really be prosecuted for theft and distruction of private property.

Yes thats right Oklahoma has more favorable laws about highfencing then Texas does; I hunt and guide in Oklahoma and hold an Oklahoma life time residents combo license. My information is based on several in depth discussions with state game wardens.
Case in point- Guy shot a buck inside a highfenced ranch from the road, cut the fence and drug it out. The game warden got involved only because of the trespassing charge; HE WAS NOT CHARGED WITH ANY GAME VIOLATION. He was fined given probation (he pled guilty) and the owener of the game ranch got to set the restituion for the buck he shot.....$7,000.00
Oh and to clarify about the depredation permit-
1. you call the game warden and he comes out and inspects the crop/ property damage.
2. The permit is issued
3. You can actually spotlight the deer after the permit is issued but usually I believe the state trapper or game warden handles the shooting. But its the same process to get a night time hunting permit for hog control you just have to notify the game warden before you go spotlighting

I've gotten DP pemits for both deer and speed goats. On the goats it came from the State biologist. We where allowed to shoot just not touch. Think they changed it recently because I was suppose to meet up with the Ranger to get goats permits, but ran out of time this year.

Not for yotes, but you can for hogs.. trust me I had a pretty indepth conversation one night at about 1 am with the game ranger. also all permits go to the land owner not leasor or farmer

Yeah its a shame about no night hunting for yotes, but some people in Oklahoma think that spotlighting deer should be an Olympic sport!
Thus the tight control of night Hunting.
Didnt know you could get the permit for speedgoats?, thats cool if you ever need an assistant i got my hand held high

Olympic sport is an understatement.
If they allow you I give all of them to you.. Pretty much lost my heart for it. Kind of rough shooting them and letting them lay.
