Thanks guys for the recommendations! One thing is for certain, after the BMW seats, I do need to get something on these to support my lumbar. It's not a knock on Dodge, just a testament on how good the BMW seats are (as they should be, that was a $90k car brand new). The good thing is, my wife looks like is going to keep the BMW in the family and instead is leaning towards selling the Altima. I was not looking forward to getting rid of it. clap

The spray in liner is good and bad. I have had both. Right now my truck has a thick rubber mat in the bed. Keeps stuff from sliding around so much. The last spray in liner I had got all chipped up from a backhoe bucket. Had a lifetime guarantee, but I never got around to having it fixed. Another thing, that spray in liner got hot enough to burn my dogs feet....something to keep in mind

I think I am leaning on rubber mat at least for now. I don't mind it getting scratched or chipped, but wife disagrees, at least now that it is brand new.

Has anyone done spray in on already scratched bed? Any problems with rusting after that? I would imagine any moisture getting trapped between scratched metal and airtight plastic would cause it to corrode very fast.

Rubber mats are usually plenty unless you work your truck like its in the oilfield. I never have had a spray in liner and have been ok.

They actually scuff it up when they do the spray in liner. No problems with rust after that. Think of it just like a really thick paint job.

Bought oilfield trucks, construction trucks, and hunting trucks. Here is my $.02

1.) 4x4. I know you already spent your money, but I would STRONGLY encourage you to make sure you pony up and spend the money next time around. Is it expensive? Yup. Is it sorely needed on a hunting lease? I would say so. Its one of those things you appreciate soooooo much after doing without it.

2.) Toolbox and tools. Even though you have a quadcab... you will need one.

3.) All Weather Floor mats. You WILL get mud on your boots. And you WILL have to drive in those boots. Get a big, heavy duty set of floor mats and never worry about it.
3.) Essentials...
1st Aid Kit
Tire slime
tow strap
power inverter
good leather gloves
Deep Woods Off
Rem - Oil
binoculars
blanket
slicker suit
toilet paper or baby wipes.

3.5) Make sure you put a lot of ZIP TIES in the truck. These are invaluable.

4.) A good spit can and beer cooler!

Me personally, I would not put a bed mat, bedliner, or spray in. They just get to be a pain in the rear after a while. I use my truck as a truck.

Buy a Chevy LTZ and you won't need to buy a lumbar support.

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea

Looked at couple of those and the seats aren't still anywhere acceptable. I knew I was making a step backwards in comfort no matter what I bought. smile

How about a camo cover, like we had for the vehicles in military? That way I can just drive on the field, open the bed and put a camo cover on top and shoot from the bed. Lazy boy style... clap

Of course I'll need a mattress on the bed, who knows what kind of animals I catch on my new shiny truck.

I would get a grill guard. The first deer I hit it paid for itself. A good steel crossbox to keep the thieves from ripping you off while out and about. I also recommend a set of Husky floor mats. What to put in the toolbox has been covered above. I would recommend a recovery strap and clevis if you are going to be out in the dirt or sand.

IMO don't go with the nittos. They wear out FAST. Had them on my truck and they didn't last 20k miles. Got the hankook ATs now and I haven't had to use 4wd yet with them. The nittos I was always using 4wd.

1.grilleguard for sure w/ lights

2.toolbox and headache rack with rails (for tie downs). also set the toolbox a little further to were you can sit on the toolbox and use the headache rack as a rest, just put you some black pipe insulator on top of the headache rack.

3.implement lights for the rear bumper hooked up to a toggle on the dash for when you go through gates or back up to trailers.

4.husky liners or any other all weather mat with a lip on it to contain everything.

5.wheel to wheel nerf bars or nfab bars.

6. if you go 2wd you might want to check into a front reciever hitch and if it doesn't have a rear trailer hitch get that also. this way you can get a quick mount winch set up so you can plug it in front or back.

7.as far as bed liner the rubber bed mat is always good and it's less expensive and extremely durable. now i've had line x,rhino, and toff spray in liners. the rhino and toff liners are the best in my personal opinion because they don't chip if they spray them 1/4" thick. the toff liner i've actually sprayed my entire hunting truck with and that was in 05 and it is still doing great (but make sure you go with rhino you ask for the uv protectant, toff it is allready mixed in)

8.seat covers for sure. cabela's usually has some good deals, but the best i've found were made out of thick canvass and custom made to specific models I believe the one's i had in my dodge were covercraft.

9. if you are looking at tire's i would like stated above stay away from Nitto they wear quickly. but BFG,TOYO,Cooper,Michelin are great choices and have tough sidewalls.

10. one or two pork chop boxes or (wheel well boxes) they work great for misc. tools and hunting gear. they also are accessible from the back of the truck by letting the tailgate down and not having to climb up in the truck.

11. a power inverter is always handy to for running extra equipment and keeping you 12v tools charged for when your working out in the back country.

12. also some kind of air compressor is a must or just a big air tank.

13. hi lift jack and mount it to the grille guard or in side the bed over the wheel well.

I've put 20,000 miles on my tire and they still look darn good. But I have a friend who said his did wear out to quickly. He lives on a gravel road so I thought that was the reason. I don't think u can go wrong with bfg's but I like the nitto's so far.

If you are worried about loosing bed space with a full size tool boax,I reeomend a "slim" tool box. I have one on my Chevy and it's perfect. I bought my at Lowes for about $150. Also a great place to buy pick up stuff is Earl Owen and company (www.earlowen.com)
Good luck!

There are positives and negatives to a permanently installed cross bed toolbox. They are handy and offer lots of valuable storage; however, they are in the way when you have something big in your bed and they block the view looking in the bed or back to your right. In fact, my wife won't drive my truck anymore after I installed a toolbox (might put that in the positive column). Those built in side boxes that Dodge has sure look handy, but not an option on an older truck. With that being said, a smaller removable box than can be securely attached might be the way to go. Another issue is locking your toolbox. Mine is a Rawson Koenig (RK) and has been broken into multiple times. I finally got to a point that nothing of value stays in overnight and I just don't lock it. Get something with a good lock or that you can put a padlock on.
