My wife says I have lived too long in Texas now since I bought my first truck last weekend. Anyways, I have wanted one for a long time as the older I get the more I enjoy all kinds of activities that truck is convenient for. Fixing the house, building new things, and of course hunting.
Couple of questions, what do recommend as accessories for the truck. Bed cover, liner, utilities etc? What would you get, and what have you gotten in the past that you have regretted? I should have gotten a 4x4 but I had to settle for a 2x4, I think it will get me by even on rougher terrains.
My shopping list, a must haves. And any DFW area shop recommendations are welcome for best service and price.

If u plan on being off-road. You're gonna need some good all-terrian tires.

Spray in bed liner is nice and a crossbed tool box is an absolute necessity.

Forget the bed liner, get a spray in from Linex.

Forget the bed liner, get a spray in from Linex. Thanks, I put in a quote request from their website. Anyone on the forums that do it, or something similar, in DFW area? I'll give forums members a preference when doing business.

Spray-in bed liner and toolbox with the following items:
- good strong flashlight - 4 way lug wrench - hydraulic jack - small shovel - a 2' piece of 2x12 board - duck tape - airosol can of oil (I prefer Royal Purple) - at least 4 good strong ratchet straps - lopping shears - hammer - crow bar - jumper cables - screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc.... - anything else you can think of that you might need that will fit
I'll never own another truck without a toolbox.

I recommend a bed cover to keep things locked up and safe. I don't like the one piece fiberglass kind. Look at the Bak-Flip. That's what I have and it works great. Water tight, too.

dont get a bed liner, get a spray in.... Around here, a grill guard is a must, but idk what ur chances of hitting a 200# hog, or a big ole heifer are out in DFW...
Headache racks can be very useful as well.

Spray in, got it. Bed cover, I would need it and one that I can lock. I am still undecided about a toolbox. I know it would be very useful but would there be f.e. a strong net type of accessory that would keep a regular toolbox from moving around? I don't know if I want to sacrifice the space for a permanent type of toolbox, or are there some that would be easy to bolt in and bolt out?
Like said, new to trucks, lots of questions.
watchale, if you wanted to see my pictures, it's just a regular Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab that you can see sitting at dealership. I would rather have people post pictures of their cool/practical accessories. Nothing special about mine worth posting pictures.
One thing I might be interested in is grill guard, with some extra headlights of course behind it.

Practical. I'm closer to 40 than 20 so I am not interested in "looking cool".

i disagree on the bed cover Ive got a longbed F350 with a bed cover during deer season i keep 20 bags of corn in there at all times plus tools, parts, ect. I don't have to worry about the corn getting rained on and spoiled and I have it with me when i need it. I pull a gooseneck a lot so i have a roll bak so i can use the full bed when needed for hauling or i can keep the things i don't want in the cab nice and dry. A roll up bed cover is a great tool IMO.

ya, i wouldnt get a bed cover. If ur going for practical, a headache rack with bed rails, spray in bed liner, tool box, and grill guard.... nothing else u really need. U can put more lights on it. I like lights on a truck, but i dont like them to be the focus, i think they are douchey looking. Try to make em inconspicuous. Another thing you might look into is a CB radio, u can get a small antenna that is easy to hide. When i use to drive the interstate all the time, mine was constantly in use.... saved me countless hours over the year.
Now once u do all this too ur truck, u will have spent somewhere between 2000 and 5000 dollars.... As far as brand goes, get a ranch hand.

I'll never own another truck without a toolbox. Bolt cutters Tire plugs, and zip ties Also Sami a large inverter installed in you tool box is nice when on the ranch and have to run tools.
