Well... Not knowing exactly my plans for the next 3 days...I decided to take "Ole Whiskey Dog" out for one last hunt of the year... He is turning 12 in March and I wanted to get him out one more time this year... Don't know how many more times I will be able to get him out...so I took my time and tried to make the best of it... Ended up being a little colder than I expected... At one point I looked over and Ole Whiskey had ice all over him... Mallards didn't work as good as the other day...but was able to scratch out a few... Had 2 geese that passed by a little close...and I pulled up and dropped the first one and then hit the second one twice...but it flew off...probably about 8 pound bird... All in all...Whiskey & Me...had a Great time in the field today! J.J. Whiskey bring back the goose... Today's harvest...and a tired ole Boy...

Now I understand the reason why you hunted soo much this year. It is a sad day when you cant hunt with you dog anymore. Good job JJ

You need to change your name to duckslayer. I too see why you hunted so much this year it sounds as if your hunting pardner is going to have to retire after this year. But there will be another to cover for him next year I bet. Keeep posting the pics

Great pic with the dog and goose.
It's not skybusting, if you make the shot.

LSU,
Actually I have 2 dogs...
Whiskey 11 year old Male Brandy 4 year old Female
Last couple of years I alternated dogs...but have shifted more towards Brandy in the last year cause Whiskey just can't do it like he use to...

JJ, how many deeks you putting out now, are you still using a spinner? I been putting out the same spread all year, 12 mallards, about 8 GW teal, 1 pintail, and spinner. I have been cutting down my spread last few hunts, and thinking about ditching the spinner. Funny my 9 yr old boy been telling me to only put out 6 decoys or less, he says that is more natural. He reads hunting magazines (I don’t really, I should), he said he read that in a magazine. He is always schooling me, I'm thinking he is probably right. I'm taking him out last day on Sunday, I'm sure he is going to insist on his strategy! I'm hoping he gets his first duck on Sunday!

Damn dude...going to get people all choked up about your dog if your not careful.
On another note...what are you doing with all the ducks and geese you are getting? I mean you could feed your family duck every day until next season with all that you are bagging. Are you giving some away? I've never seen anything like this from a regular working person.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

Could you post up your sausage hot link recipes. Made some jerky with a batch of duck and then also with some geese...great snack to take on a hunt.

A man and his dog. No closer friends. After reading that, my dog, Buddy, will have a nice T-Bone tonight. He gets my dinner. I will eat the baked potato and thank God for my best friend. Thanks for the post, you made my day.

Yes sir, getting kinda misty in here. I know where your coming from. Lost my hunting buddy last april, after 10 years. Great pics and memories there How's he like his jacket? Dixie would not wear hers this past weekend, got kinda ticked off about it. Never heard a dogs teeth chatter till Sunday morning Guy, good luck, and take a camera! Hope your son bags one
