New to duck hunting and don't have much experience setting decoys.Where is a good place to set a motion decoy in relation to the rest of the spread?

I'll normally put out two sets of decoys and leave an open space for ducks that think they can land there in the middle. I'll put the spinning wing in the middle but to one side or the other facing the wind.

By motion decoy I figure you are talking spinning wing...if not you can put the shaking ones amoung the standard decoys.

I have a Cabelas Vortex system and have had good success placing it off to the side and real close to the blind. The ducks seem to want to land on top of this thing.

DDG..what's a vortex system? What does it do? Having ducks want to land on top of it is something I might be interested in hearing more about.

It's not skybusting, if you make the shot.

They have a video on it....pretty cool. Damn that little rig is expensive though...need to have all that stuff plus two spinning wing decoys which I assume you have to buy seperately.

It is a little pricey. I use the wind powered spinning wings to save on the cost. You can pick up two for around 50 bucks. They work very well. The only drawback is that they are a little noisy when they get to swinging.
