I am sure this has happened to anyone who uses the heck out of any ATV, but I am trying to think of a good/effective way to fix this without buying replacement parts from the dealer.
Basically, when your plastic wheel fenders or mud flaps get torn off. More precisely, when the plastic screws or rivets pop out, or get torn from their anchoring hole. Yall know what I am talking about? Sometimes they simply fall out from getting loosened, or the hole which they are in gets torn out. It basically leaves you with a loose fender that will eventually get torn off all the way by brush.
I have used bailing wire in the past, but am tired of "riggin" them up. ha-ha. I am thinking of what exact bolt would work best to replace them with.
This past weekend, the plastic rivets remained, but the actual hole was torn out. In other words, there isnt a circular hole anymore that they can go into. Just a tear in the plastic.
Let me know if I didnt explain well and ill give it another shot. Any ideas on how to repair this when it inevitably happens? Like I said..I have the bailing wire thing down. Maybe any ideas on what you can do to the fenders to prevent it? And no chopping out miles of brush isnt my idea of a solution.

I think we are talking about two different parts. I am talking about the tire fenders that go over the wheel that prevent the tires from slinging mud or rocks on your jeans while you ride on it.

Try self tapping metal roof screws that have the rubber gasket. They come in many colors and should tighten down real well.

Remove all of those worthless plastic push pins and replace them with black allen head machine bolts, washers and nuts. They'll last forever and give your bike a cool, custom look. I used stainless ones on my competition mud bike and people loved the look of them.

There is a reason they use the plastic pins instead of screwing/bolting the pieces together. The pins are meant to pop out before causing damage to the body panels. Just buy a package of cheap plastic pins and carry them on the ATV, replace them when they come out. Don't get them from the dealer, they charge a ridiculous price for them. You can find them cheap online. If you replace them with screws/bolts you will be buying body parts instead of pins.

I still use coat hangers, it allows the fenders to move enough independent of each other so they won't tear or break but still holds them in place so they don't flop around while driving fast. Stick to what works and keep it simple

What exactly are the plastic pins called? They seem like rivets, but I doubt that is their correct term.

They're called panel retainers. Go to an auto parts store and get a box of them. The ones I have are made by Doorman, and hold up better than the factory ones.

there are plastic rivets available, and they're used extensively in the automotive industry for just what you're asking about,to retain plastic body panels. go to a auto dealer with a collision shop or an aftermarket body parts dealer and buy a box of what you need.I've handed out thousands of different sizes over the years to technicians for different applications. be aware that plastic rivets use a different rivet gun other than what is used for common aluminum pop rivets. you may be able to find some plastic push-pins that will work for you instead of rivets.
good luck! !
