Your gonna get different opinions left and right, there has been so many threads about certain rounds for pigs its ridiculous. I killed pigs with a .22mag and all the way up with a 45/70, it pretty much comes down to what you want to use, theres no magic round for a hogs kill em with anything you got

Pick a gun/caliber you don't already own and that's the one you need. Nothing like a good excuse to buy a new gun!!!
I like to shoot um with my .204 but any gun I have with me at the time works for me.

I've shot them with .243, .270, 30-30 and will start using the .223 very soon. None of them griped about what they were hit with . All were very cooperative and just hit the ground .gif) .

Unless you hit 'em right in or just behind the ear, it depends greatly on how big a hog you are shooting. If you hit them most anywhere else, I strongly suggest a 7MM-08 or bigger. Use enough gun! Yeah, you can kill one with a bow and arrow, a spear, or even chase one down and stab it to death. I also know a fellow who swears that in his childhood in Kansas he witnessed a buffalo being killed with a .22. He is a very truthful fellow and I believe him. However, he nor I do not recommend trying to do so. Yeah, I have also killed a deer with one shot with a .22 as well, but I do not recommend the practice, nor do I intend to try it again. In my opinion, if it is bigger than 50-60 lbs or so, use something bigger than a .223. Hogs are pretty tough critters and don't die easily. If you must use a .223 or .243 or similar, then use a premium bullet such as a Barnes for best results.

hunter should seriously consider the gun. Caliber, and load to fit the hunting situation.

Many different variables, size of hog you want?, keeping the meat?, terrain (thick brush versus open field)?, distance?. Close open shot, do not want to waste meat=.243 or .223 behind ear. in tight brush, saving meat or not=30.30, open field, longer shot= .7mm or .308. Kill tehm all, hell with meat=AR15 Good luck
