Iv got 130 acers that we raise cattle on, and i have about 50 acers that are hunting only. Hoggs come onto the land, and do there thing. for 2 years now i have been tracking, studying, and setting up feeders where they consistantly come into the property. PROBLEM, as soon as i get everything set up, they dont come back. I have tracked for miles and miles till my feet are blistered and bleeding and i continue to study and find what exactly they are doing. well, last week, i tracked and found they were running a creek bed, then climbing out, stopping by a tank, then making there way onto my property. i set up a feeder where all the tracks are together before they split off into different groups. The tracks were very fresh, by one or 2 days. Now, nothing. iv got a pill of corn under my feeder. can anybody help me with some insight of what mioght be happening? Has anybody every noticed pigs moving through certain areasonly after rain? any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

FYI, i put out sour corn, and am using "Hog Wild" powder mixed with the corn in the feeder.

On a ranch in south Texas we would find the hog trails and places where they had been digging. Then we just spread corn on the ground and waited or came back after a couple of hours. The hogs were more likely to show up if we did not change anything, like setting up a feeder or trap. They know their territory well and they can pick up any scent you leave behind.

I would say just pour out some corn. Like Oldnavy said changing the area by putting up a feeder is most likely spooking them.

We have found the best hog attractant is to take your corn, put it in a bucket with a couple of cheap beers, a little water and some raspberry jello and let it sit a couple days and sour. Has worked great!

Yep I would say sour corn. Probably get some of the hog attraction stuff from Academy. Alot of activity like putting up feeders maybe the problem as said above.

pattern them w/ game cameras x2 hogs are somewhat unpredictable...best thing to do is document the times they are at a certain place b/c they can cover a lot of ground in a hurry.

i am also on a new place. facing similar experiences as you.
i don't think you can pattern these critters. all the ones I have on my cams are all different. i never see the same hogs but i do see them using the same trails.
as stated above lay corn down on where signs are obvious and they will do what they are used to.
i set up a feeder "near" a trail thinking they will smell it and go to it. NOT! I've got 1 hog in 2 weeks under my game cam. Yet, on the trails where I had my game cams set I have over 100 different hogs on the cams.
Don't know if that's helpful but it's my experience. Most of my success is spreading corn out on the trails i know they travel. Unfortunately there is not a tree a million miles from those trees.
Good luck and keep your head up.

Zen, in my opinion you are on the right track setting up near, but not on the trail. I would make a trail or two of dribbled corn from the trail to the feeder, they'll find it. Add to that a pile of sour corn under it, or a post hole with some sour corn in it and they should find your feeder.

one other thing, if feeders are scaring them, try a pig pipe.
