im looking at 2 old winchester 94's both in 30-30 one made in 1920 good rifiling, the other made in 1953 rifiling look new, question is whats the best load off the shelf for either of these and can i shoot the new off the shelf jacketed ammo in the 1920 30-30 or was it made for cast bulletts only? i will be buying one of these soon love the look of the 1920 alot more cash but im still leaning that way farthest shot will be 100 yards tops more like 60 thoughts? 1920 30-30 rifiling is alittle pitted not bad but little

Post pics when you get it. I bet HWY_MAN can help with this one, he collects the older guns.

i hear the new leverevolution is great...don't know first hand but it will extend the range of a .30-30 to about 200 hundred yards... not sure what the answer is to your question about the '20s model shooting jacketed ammo.
