Well deer season was over for me last weekend. No big bucks to hang on the wall, but a productive season.

Today I took my rifle out of the case, took the stock off, cleaned and oiled everything, put it back together and put it back in the safe till I go hog or maybe turkey hunting. I counted out the shells in my hunting pouch and took note.

There were three empty slots, one for each kill.

It was almost as satifying as a cup of coffee on a cold morning. I guess only a hunter can appreciate it.

Shoot straight and always carry a 7mm Remington Magnum.

Yeah, my dad did a little better than I did with his 7mag. 4 shells, 5 dead deer. Sounds impossible, but it's the second time he's done it. Oh, and all of his deer were shot with either head or neck shots. And he wears bifocals!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I haven't stored mine away just yet. I have a hog hunt with TCH next month, so the bow and 7mag getting ready to go The following month we have the forum ram/hog hunt Somewhere in between I am going to take a Javi with a bow, out at the ranch. I already have a GTG for varmits, sometime this summer So I think all my guns will have some sort of year round use.

Watch those javi's, mean mean mean! Suggest tree/ tripod stand and a good handgun just in case.
