One of Kimmo's latest post got me thinking. How about a couple of you knife builders build a pig sticker knife? Also if any of you are interested you might try a pig spear or spear head.
I personally probably couldn't afford one but someone on here would buy it I bet.
What do you think?

Hi. I saw this post. I have in mind to do a couple but i'm confused how the blade must be to be legal in your state Texas. We use doubble edged sticker here in scandinavia but it seems to be different in the USA.
. Hunting/fishing is my favorites and also knifemaker since many yrs.

Hum I don't "think" there are any laws, in Texas at least, about knife size or if they are double edged on not, as far as hunting goes.
Maybe one of our LEO's will chime in if there is a law...

I actually have a pig sticker in the works. It has a false edge on one side not a double edge cause of the law question.
I'll post a pic of the work in progress later. Once I went hog wrestling and we use a machete that was shortened and sharpened for this purpose.

Here is the work in progress. Its 1/4" thick steel and around 14" long. It might de-animate a piggy.

Illegal to own ?? Or illegal to carry ?? You can buy Bowie's and throwing knives just about anywhere. I know you can hunt with a big knife. Clarify please.

That's the law in regards to carry. Here's what I have read in regards to exceptions to the law. YMMV.
Being in the actual discharge of official duties as a member of the armed forces or state military forces as defined by Section 431.001, Government Code, or as a guard employed by a penal institution; Being on your own premises or premises under your control unless you are an employee or agent of the owner of the premises and your primary responsibility is to act in the capacity of a security guard to protect persons or property, in which event you must comply with another section of law. Traveling. You are engaging in lawful hunting, fishing, or other sporting activity on the immediate premises where the activity is conducted, or are en route between the premises and your residence, if the knife is a type commonly used in the activity.

Hi. The pigsticker I had fore sale was from my own collection. An origin sticker gyttorp from Sweden. I made the sheath for it because I didnt like the sheath that come with it. I have done some pig stickers earlier for hunters here in Sweden. Here in scandinavia we use doubble edged 6 inch blade as stickers but For you in Texas them are forbidden. /Kimmo Lilja

False, Kimmo. Illegal knives are not allowed to be carried on your person when you are not A) Traveling in a car B) Hunting, fishing, etc. C) On your own premises
You can own them, and I do. Hell, you can mail order them and buy 'em in malls!
I carry a 5 1/4 inch (13cm) canadian skinner quite often, big knife that serves many purposes and is about as big as you can carry wherever a weapon/tool is allowed.
