I can verify that the Sports Authoriy in Houston on FM 1960 close to Willowbrook Mall definitely has them on sale. But they are out of the 12FV in .223. How do I know this? Because I just bought the LAST ONE! $431.92 out the door!
They also had Weatherby's on sale, and some other Savages with SS barrels, but they were still at $599. Did not look at caliber.

Are they getting out of the gun and or hunting business?

I wish our SA would put the weatherby's on sale. They were still 300.

I have a Bell&Carlson Savage Duramaxx stock for the Savage 12fv if anyone is interested. It is black with gray webbing. I bought it new 2 months ago and sold my rifle so it is in new condition. It is much stiffer than the factory Savage stock and particularly on the fore-end for bi-pod use. Shoot me a PM if interested. This is a pic when I had it on my rifle.

Just returned from a Sports Authority in the North Texas area (Frisco) and bought the last Savage 12FV in .223. Price was $399 plus tax just like kawabuggy. No more Savage 12FV's there in any caliber, but everything else was on sale too. At the very least, they are reducing their gun inventory.

I ALMOST picked up a stainless Tikka at the pasadena store in 30-06 that they had mismarked for the blued sale price of $429.00. The register rang it up at the regular price of $620 and I really didn't care to press the issue since it was an 06 in a 6# gun One thing is for sure, their employees (the ones I delt with) don't know guns....at all....

This is true that the people at Sports Authority don't know much about the guns. There must be no training at all related to guns.
