How do you exercise your dog? Zeke loves to follow me on the four wheeler. He will run beside me and match my pace. Kind of a running heel I suppose.

I remember from my cycling training days that hard/intense speed for a period of time followed by a slower pace to recover over and over builds stamina. I do this with Zeke for a couple of miles per day then allow him to sniff and hunt the woods a bit before taking him to the tank for his evening swim.

I have only been doing this for a week or so, but man he is looking extremely fit and he really seems to enjoy getting flat worn out.

Anyhow, what are some fitness type exercises you guys are doing?

When NOT being lazy - I take Colt out for walks

When Lazy - Frisbee time

I've been very lazy lately, so he's developing into quite the Frisbee dog. I may need to develop a dance routine and join some competitions.

During season she goes hunting of course and for about a 2 mile walk on non hunting days. Out of season we do the daily walks and she usually goes fishing with me and/or I'll take her to our hunting spot and let her go wild.

i run with all three of my labs for about 2-5 miles every morning depending on the day. Walk down to the river in the evening for some fetch and swimming.

it's the only way i can keep them from tearing my house down.

I run with cali about 1-2 miles a day. Nothin' wears her out more than a frisbee though. Also within the last few weeks I've started throwing a golfball for her. Goes heck of a lot further than a tennis ball.

I exercise my DD with my bicycle and a "Walkie Dog" attached to the seat post.

http://www.amazon.com/WalkyDog-Hands-Bicycle-Dog-Leash/dp/B002MTOW7Y

She's pulling me for the 1st 100 yards or so, but after that, I have to pedal in high gear as fast as I can to stay even. Weather permitting I do a 1.6 mile loop as fast as I can pedal. As the weather improves, and the daylight lengthens, I'll increase that distance.

I use to have one of those when I was in an apartment. Worked great even as the dog would try and take off after squirrels and what not

Taking my pudel pointer pup for a run , no mater far, seems to tire me more than him. Just seems to get him more jacked up.

One of two things works when I can't get him out in the wild.

1) Turn my three small kids loose on him for about an hour. Works every time if he doesn't chew them up first.

2) Half an hour of fetching will wear him out.
